I found this book on the Free Today thread in November 2018. I picked it up today because I started going through my TBR alphabetically, trying to trim it down.

In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself. When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.
After giving himself wholly to the job for ten years, Crew Vega was done. He’d fulfilled his commitment, done his duty, gone above and beyond to settle the score. And the score was high. All he had to do was train his replacements and he’d be out for good.
He had a plan, one that didn’t include getting involved with his new neighbor, a woman who not only kept cows for pets, but treasured her employees as family, and understood him better than anyone ever had before. But when he learned a high level CIA target being investigated for treason was keeping tabs on her?
No, he never planned on that.
And like everything Crew Vega did in life, when he goes in, he’s all in.
Summary:
When Addy was 5 her dad was killed in front of her by KGBish traitors. Her mom took off with her, changed their names etc. They did well, they were settled, mostly, they didn't have to run fron place to place, so no tragic back story there. When her mom died Addy brought her ashes to her mom's birthplace - Virginia. She saw a business opportunity in a run down winery. Her winery has been doing really well. Turns out though, that the traitors have been keeping an eye on her (and her mom), so much for disappearing! When Addy moved back close to Washington DC, they started worrying that she was hunting for her dad's killers (she wasn't).
Crew is a retired ... soldier of fortune. Assassin. Whatever. He retired after 10 years, and opened a training facility for assassins. Right next to Addy. They meet over some cows. He figured out something was going on when a traitor made a visit to the vineyard. To do some business ostensibly, but really to suss Addy out.
They bond, there is some action, a lot of sex, bad guys are caught, HEA.
Opinion:
This is a first read through, so my opinion might change later, but I will be reading it again. It was such a fun read.
First of all, the dialogue was witty and funny. The main and secondary characters were great. There was no drama.
No big misunderstandings. No other women/men. No chronic indecision. The MCs had their issues but owned up to it and didn't make those issues central to the relationship. Their relationship proceeded very quickly, but so what? It was fun, it made me laugh, and I felt good when I finished it.
