Sharon Sala is a favorite author of mine. In the last week, I read Don't Back Down and Last Rites, books 1 and 2 of the Jubilee, Kentucky series. I liked both. Don't Back Down is currently free. It is an insta-love, so be aware if that bugs you. Last Rites is a slower burn but little angst. In both books, all of the conflict comes from the suspense plot, not the romance. I love that but I know a lot of a readers don't, so ymmv.

I haven't read Sharon Sala in quite awhile but did enjoy the 2 books you mentioned. A favorite RS author of mine is Laura Griffin. Elizabeth Lowell was a favorite but I think she's retired.
A new-to-me author, has become a favorite FBI series this year. Cold Justice series by Toni Anderson 1. A Cold Dark Place (3/14) (B+ Hot) - Serial Killer 2. Cold Pursuit (6/14) (B+ Hot) - Terrorism 3. Cold Light of Day (11/14) (B+ Warm) - Espionage 4. Cold Fear (5/15) (A- Hot) - Serial Killer 5. Cold in the Shadows (11/15) (A- Hot) - CIA 6. Cold Hearted (5/16) - Looking for a bargain
Other than that this year my RS focus has been a lot of re-reading via Audible of favorites with the occasional current release.
Sandra Brown Mean Streak (8/14) (B+ Hot+) Overkill (8/22) (A Warm) Out of Nowhere (8/23) (A- Warm)
Julie Garwood Sizzle (1/10) (B+ Warm) Fire and Ice (1/09) (A- Warm) Sweet Talk (8/12) (B Warm+) Hotshot (8/13) (B Warm+) Fast Track (8/14) (A- Warm) Wired (6/17) (A Warm)
Running Wild by Linda Howard & Linda Jones (11/02) (A- Warm)
Jayne Ann Krentz Whispering Springs - Psychic Heroine 1. Light in Shadow (1/03) (A Warm) - LOL Humor 2. Truth or Dare (1/04) (A- Warm) River Road (1/14) (B+ Warm) All the Colors of Night (1/21) (B Warm)
Nora Roberts The Witness (4/12) (A- Subtle) Whiskey Beach (4/13) (C- Subtle) - Didn’t like narrator Identity (5/23) (A Subtle+)

Futuristics and Fantasy have been strong this year. Most of them have RS elements but I don’t know if they belong on this thread.
Ghost Hunters of Harmony by Jayne Castle Eve and Roarke In Death by J.D. Robb Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh - a special delight
Janie - I agree with all of the author/books you noted. Toni Anderson was a great find for me and like you I wait for bargains. I irritates me that books are now so expensive! Sadly, if I remember correctly, Julie Garwood passed away so we'll not get any more books from her. Kat Martin writes a good mystery/romance and so does Karen Robards. I almost forgot Karen Rose, her older books are frequent rereads.
ETA - Another RS author I enjoy from time to time is Rebecca Zanetti.

BB, it was the death of Julie Garwood that turned me to those re-reads, a kind of grieving, I think. She was one of the first romance authors that I started reading, a sweet talent. I’m glad I was able to read as many of her books as I have, many of her Historicals are on the Multiple Re-Reads List.
Karen Robards is one of my favorites, too for over 20 years at least. She’s been writing World War II Historicals recently and I’m just not drawn in that direction. But the Guardian Trilogy she wrote just before them is excellent. I thought it ended with the possibility of more to come but then WWII took hold.
Karen Rose was an auto-buy author for many years, then it got hard to find new releases at town. I hate reading out of sequence and gradually drifted away from her. The high body count in the books has been enough to point my focus elsewhere any more.
Haven’t read any Rebecca Zanetti that I recall. Will keep my eyes open for her, thanks.

Many years ago I wasn't a big romance reader but thought I'd give it a try. I went into a 2nd hand bookstore and had no idea where to start. I asked the owner who she would recommend and she steered me straight to Julie Garwood. I was hooked. I love both the RS and the historicals and have all of them in pb. I love the older Karen Rose books more so than the newer ones. I didn't know Robards was writing WWII Historicals. Not my time period to read.

Wanted to post that Julie Garwood's last book in the Buchanan/Renard/McKenna series,, Grace Under Fire, is on sale today for $2.99, was $13.99 (just finished posting this deal)
The Toni Anderson Cold Justice series is great, too, and there have been a lot of great discounted book offerings from there. Another author of Romantic Suspense that I was introduced to in these forums courtesy of the many great deal postings by mjbett is Pamela Clare (Colorado High Country books about climbing and her I-Team books)

Hi ariane, I re-read Grace Under Fire by Julie Garwood (7/22) [Buchanan-Renard - 14] (A- Warm) a few months ago.
Haven't thought about Pamela Clare in a long time, I need to reacquaint myself with her books. Have been collecting her different series for a long time. Thanks for putting her back on my radar.😊
