I'm reading Dark Master by Shana Vanterpool... and I'm not liking it very much
That doesn't sound like one I would enjoy. I usually stay away from dark romance in BDSM because it can lead places I don't want to go. I still want romance and TLC in my BDSM.

agreads - I'm with you. My fav H's in a BDSM story are the ones that are super protective. They treat the h's like someone worth caring for. Like noticing when the h is upset about something and insisting on communication and honesty because the CARE about her. Sigh.......

I've never read this author. What is it you don't like?
This author is good actually, I read Destroy Me early this year and it was an ok read, with a lot of angst and a very damaged hero. Now, Dark Master has a very interesing concept IMO, I don't have a problem with romance in BDSM. But the hero in this novel...
He is AWFUL. He does terrible things to her. At least IMO. I get that he's damaged, I like my heroes to be a little OTT too but he was too much.
He doesn't like when she talks back to him and does stupid, awful things to punish her. One of this punishments its him cheating on her with the woman who got him into BDSM lifestyle and making the h suck his cock righ after! with that woman's... flavor, still in his dick. He tells her something like 'can you taste her on my cock?' and he forces her to choke on it! UHG. THANK GOD she leaves him after that but just because he's terribly sorry and crying and blah blah blah she takes him back, THE NEXT DAY. I wanted to kill her, she's just TSTL.
And early in the book he wants to teach her to be a submissive but he's not her teacher! he 'lends' her to a friend so she can suck him off. The sad part is that this guy (his name is Samuel) is a million times better than H (Jaxon) because he cared about her comfort and he didn't get mad when she couldn't keep up! I was screaming at her allmost all the book to dump Jaxon's sorry ass and stay with Samuel.
Jaxon (H) has to have some kind of mental issue. His chain of though is NOT normal.

Veniamin NOPE! never reading that one. Several big no-no's in that one for me. CHEATING! and Humiliation as punishment, to start with.
Thank you so much for the warning.
I'm not against cheating, actually I love it when the H does it because I like all the angst and drama and problems it brings to the story, but Jaxon was a total asshole. And he didn't even have a good reason to cheat! he was just mad she talked back to him. He wanted her to go to eat with him and when she said she couldn't he said something like 'forget it, I'll go eat with [woman who got him into BDSM]' so she answers him with 'I'm sure Samuel will love getting me something to eat' or something like that. And then he just does the stupid 'choke on my nasty dick' scene when he comes home, uhg.
Samuel was into humiliation and it was pretty hot. TBH It's just Jaxon and his sorry-ass existence what spoiled the book for me.
Hello! Long time lurker!! I m so happy that this site exists! I love Cherise Sinclair , her Master of the Shadowlands and Mountain masters are 4/5 star reads for me. My favorite of all time BDSM books are by Joey W. Hill, Ice Queen and Mirror of my soul, both have the same characters. English in not my first language, so sorry for the mistakes.
Hi Rhea! Glad to see you here. Don't worry about your English. It seems to be just fine.
I have one of Joey Hill's books in my tbr, but have not read it yet. I need to move it up the list because I forgot I had it until you mentioned his name.
Has anyone read any good BDSM lately? I read everything from light to hardcore, but I do want the romance and plot, not just erotic scenes. I reread some of the Boss series a few days ago and am looking for something new.

I picked up Soft Limits by Brianna Hale last night and finished it today. 4.5 stars. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Little Dancer, but it was still a solid read. (Hardcore, age play, some S&m, capture fantasies)
I'm re-reading too - Cherise Sinclair's Mountain Masters & Dark Haven series. The stories flow so well, she is a great BDSM writer and a great story teller. Love her Doms.
