I'd been away from the romance genre entirely for about 10 years until the beginning of the 2000s when I found Karen Marie Moning's Highlanders and Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters. SK got me totally hooked on paranormal romance, and I've glommed on tonnes since. Though my interest with her has fizzled a bit, I did stick it out till Acheron & Stryker got their books, that makes what - books 21 & 22?? But since then she's dragged it out a bit much, introduced too many new plot tropes, and extra characters etc.
I love the Lara Adrian Midnight Breed, and 14 books in, though I'm a couple behind, I'm still reading them. I loved the early JR Ward BDB, well the first 4 or 5 and #8 Rehv's book, but I'd gone off them by the time I couldn't get more than a few chapters into #10 and never went back. The death knell was pretty much Phury's book and there was no recovery for me (with the exception of the lone bright spot that was Rehv's book).
Loved Kathryn Smith's historical vampire Brotherhood of the Blood series. Yay, a well thought out, planned, and properly concluded 5 book series (before it had been milked to death or fizzled out). Rene Lyons' Templar Vampire series was brilliant - shame there were only 3 books and the series seemed unfinished - I wanted more of the guys to get their books. Tina Folsom's Scanguards Vampire series sucked me in... though I'm about 4 books behind, so it's kinda fizzled by about the 10 book mark for me.
D. McEntire's The Watchers series had me sucked till the very end (a concluded 6 book series). More "old-school" type vamps here which made for a nice change in compared to everyone else's being new and different in some way. Sarah McCarty's Shadow Wranglers series had me sucked in (4 books, concluded) - contemporary cowboy vampires, that's different. Kathy Love's Young Brothers series (4 books, concluded) and the spinoff New Orleans Vampire series (5 books, concluded) are two more faves.
But these days, my absolute favourite vampire series is Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardian series. 7 books and 2 novellas so far and not a dud in the bunch and absolutely no hint of it fizzling out (well not for me anyway).
Of these my fave vamps are SK: Kyrian, Valerius & Acheron... LA: Dante & Rio... JRW: Rhage & Butch... KS: Chapel... RL: Sebastian & Lucian... TF: Samson, Gabriel & Zane... DM, SMcC & KL - none are really jumping out at me... Dianne Duvall: Jeez - All them?? She just writes heroes I adore!!!
Hey girls, now that we're talking about vampires, I'm looking for a good love story between a vampire H and a human h. But I want the h to be completely clueless about vampires (and supernatural criatures in general) at first, you know? I don't want her to be a hunter, or a hybrid or anything like that (I don't like those type of heroines).

An example of this could be Lothaire of Kresley Cole. H is a ruthless vampire and the h is a human hillbilly.
The Dianne Duvall series sorts fits here... of the 7 novels and 2 novellas, half the heroines have no clue about vamps. You could start with book 1 and see what ya think - she's one of the unaware human heroines.
Lara Adrian too - most of the heroines have no clue the supernatural, and so vampires as well, exist. The heroines of bks 1, 2 & 4 are some of the early heroines who don't know about vamps and might be a good place to start.
Tina Folsom's series - definitely the 1st heroine has no clue vamps exist.

I love that series as well. I like to reread the series around Halloween. So it's almost time for a reread.
I also like Emma Holly's Midnight Series. But those would be considered Paranormal because they are shape shifting vampires. Actually two of them aren't shape shifting, Devil At Midnight and Angel At Dawn. You have to read them in order because book 1 ends in a cliffhanger.

I love it when the h doesn't know either and am always looking for this in vampire books. It gives them an edge that I love.
Have you read the oldie but goldie () Dark Prince or Dark Desire by Christine Feehan ? Both of the women in these stores are human and clueless about vampires.
Most of the books are vamp H and human h. (but not all). The human's are completely unaware that vamp's exist. Lovely alternative to "turning" the human's in these books. I refer to them as "ethical vamps". Lot's of them use blood from blood banks (until they mate )

Oh, and of course the original-for-me vampire series: Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series - how could I have forgotten to recommend these?!. Lots of the heroines, especially the ones early in the series, are human and have no clue about the existence of vampires.
Conrad from Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole. Lothaire also holds a special place in my heart.
I have a thing for crazy over the edge vampires who are tortured and lost. LOL, I know there are more out there that I like but these two always stick out.
It's not for everyone though as the H is an alpha-hole, he cheats in a weird way prior to them being in a relationship. Even though they weren't in a relationship, it was still a betrayal. I can't explain without spoiling some of it.

Oh definitely Conrad (heck yeah, yummy hot slightly psycho vampire virgin)!! He was my fave hero of the series along with Cade and Malkom? was it - the loner vamp/demon hybriddy one. I actually read the first 5 Kresley Cole full length novels back to back in 24 hours (at the time they were labeled 1 - 5, now they're books 2 - 6), but I kinda got a bit tired of them after that, the heroines all kinda merged into one type and were more than a tad too silly for me. Not necessarily TSTL silly, but immature/selfish/stubborn/bitchy/manic silly (which for me is almost worse. LOL)
Of the heroines, I really only liked Neomi (Conrad's heroine - Dark Needs at Night's Edge) and Holly (Cade's heroine - Dark Desires After Dusk). And they're my fave books, along with Demon From the Dark (and that's coz of Malkom - yeah, the whole hot yummy yet tortured virgin/demon thing totally won me over, and I suppose his heroine, Carrow, isn't too bad, I like her nearly as much as Neomi & Holly).

Holly and Naomi were different (raised human, had actual careers), Holly growing up human and not knowing of the other world that was around her and then to meet up with a demon (Cadeon) who is her mate. Her mathematical brain wanting to find answers, falling for her demon lover their ending was cute. Naomi not knowing of the other world until she met her demise and for years and years stuck in the same place. Conrad and Naomi were perfect for each other, she was the experienced one, she wasn't afraid of him and was more intrigued by his situation than anything else. The fact the she manages to calm him and to protect him is sweet, and he is devoted to her and her alone. Elizabeth and Lothaire sort of situation, with Lothaire being more insane and less conflicted of his actions (natural vamp and all).
I liked Mariketa (her powers were intriguing) her werewolf H annoyed me after they had started being together and he was still stuck in the past (he gets a half pass because of the spell thing). I honestly like Nix as she is cuckoo for cocoa puffs as my younger self would say way back when, lol. I want to see who is the sane/insane? being that ends up being her mate. I also want to know what happened to her sister, if only Kresley Cole had not added so many more extras into the series.
