Elizabeth Lowell - short choppy sentences - repetitous.
Hmm, I never think of Lowell as short, choppy sentences; what I've always loved in her books are the descriptions. Reading her books I've seen a dragon in rocks & ocean waves at sunset, deep forests, lava flows being replaced by plant life, and when she goes into a mine, I get nervous! Not to mention the motion of a loom; got me started weaving by reading her descriptions. Now if I were only as talented a weaver! My tapestries have a very long ways to go. Another one of those things I plan on playing with in retirement...at some point! Of course, this gives me an excuse to dip into her books again...which one, which one....
KC, I thought it would be a quick work to pull a copy of an Elizabeth Lowell here at home and give an example. Sigh. I've been boxing up Keepers since May, of which most of her's are... and those boxes are at the bottom of several different heavy piles. Of course.
My next trip to the Library I'll bring one home and hopefully the short sentences will jump out at me. LOL
i really do do miss not having a new EL book to look forward to each year. She was one of the first authors I discovered when started the romance obsession.

I know, I miss her also! I keep reminding myself, if I'm allowed to retire, others are as well...whether I want them to or not!
I've got all my Lowells in handy reach; both dtb & ebk formats but I've not reached for one yet. I've barely read anything for 2 days! Weather turned nice so trying to do yard work before the steambath returns! When I have to retreat behind the ac again...
Kind of think she has; her website hasn't been updated in a couple of years; checked her facebook page just now; last time she posted on it was May of 2018. I get a newsletter occasionally that a specific book is on sale; runs a survey about a specific question, but never anything said about a new title coming out. I know a couple years ago there was something on her facebook page about back giving her problems, she wasn't allowed to type, etc. I just hope she's okay, & figure I'll just have to reread previous books when I need a taste. I have everything except the Fiddler & Fiora series; I couldn't get into them; maybe I need to try again?
I read the Fiddler books YEARS ago when I was reading everything that I could find by Elizabeth Lowell. Have you also read her Ann Maxwell books? I might still have one of those on my shelf!

Oh yes! And I tracked down all of her Sci Fi titles years ago; Change, Fire Dancer... Now only if they were available in ebk; my paper copies are pretty worn! I have everything of hers except most of the F&F series in print, and have everything that's available in ebk. Ah well, I just hope she's okay.
That was one of the books that I didn't like the first time I read it; read it again a few years later, loved it! I just figure taste changed, or I was in a better mood for it? Don't know, but glad because it's really good! I don't know that I have a top favorite of hers but Valley of the Sun, Eden Burning, To the Ends of the Earth, Pearl Cove, the Medievals, Die in Plain Sight, Where the Heart Is, Moving Target, the Onlys...oh yeah, not a top favorite. they're all ones that I love to read & reread and reread...
