Great Books with Crappy Endings

Have you ever read a book or series where the ending spoils everything you loved about the book up to that point? Warning, SPOILERS, duh!!!
The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. Starts with Bared to You - Crossfire book 1
I loved this series up to the last 50 pages or so of the last book. The hero was damaged by child abuse He was jealous/possessive. He literally killed to protect the h. He was rich and decided she was the one for him the first time he saw her. There was a lovely bisexual friend for the h. Tension and angst with various bad guys. Etc. etc. It hit every button.
Then, in the last 50 pages, the author gratuitously kills the h's mother. No reason in terms of plot development, just shock value.
So, instead of wrapping up all the loose ends, we spend the last 50 pages on this new development. NONE of the other story lines are resolved. Through all five books we've watched the bisexual friend struggle. His girlfriend is pregnant and his boyfriend loves him. Does this line get resolved? No it does not!
The sortof bad person receives no retribution. Another line not resolved.
The H had horrible nightmares. For much of the book he couldn't sleep with the h for fear or hurting her in the grips of a nightmare. How does this get resolved??? She buys him a G.D. puppy!!!! Years of therapy doesn't solve the issue. A stupid animal that pees on the floor solves it all. REALLY!!!
Up to that point, it was a series I would have reread multiple times. Now I'll never read it again. I was so mad at the author. She completely wrecked five books worth of great reading in the last 50 pages of the last book. Damn it!!
So, spoil some books for me. Save me from reading books with crappy endings!
