Thieving Hearts by Nikita Slater. Grabbing this one in a sec and starting it tonight!
Unraveli Destiny by Amelia Hutchins. Awesome series. I haven't read this yet but I soon will. š
Stolen (Alpha's Control book 1) by Addison Cain. Hugely talented author but I'm hesitant to start this series after what she did in book 3 of the Alpha's Claim series. I guess if I could borrow it I'd read it sooner but to invest $5 a book when I don't know if I'll get a hea?? I'm hesitant.

Did you like this one? I am at 35% and it is just not doing anything for me. The h is bothering me with her stubborn refusal to tell the H anything even when he already knows what she is going to say. What is the big deal? He has been supposedly keeping an eye on her for years but doesn't know what she does for a living? And where did she pick up the skills for that particular job? I don't get the whole cutting and wanting pain with sex thing but if it is written well, I can get around it. I am not getting around it here, I just don't get her mindset in any way. Does this get better? Should I stick with it or give up?
Thieving Hearts was my least favorite Nikita Slater book so far. For me, I felt the H crossed the line to abuse.
****spoilers*****
I felt very uncomfortable as the H tied up and beat the h so hard that she bled. She cried and begged him to stop but he didn't. To be clear, the h is a "cutter" who needs physical pain and the H knew this prior to beating her. This is a mental illness that I don't understand and my hats off to Nikita Slater for pushing her boundaries and attempting to write about this subject. Since I don't understand this illness, the H felt too harsh to me and I was very uncomfortable at times. With that being said, Ms. Slater is a fantastic author who never fails to draw me into her stories. I just didn't connect with this one and therefore can't recommend it. I did enjoy Driven By Desire though and can recommend that one.
I have read two books recently that I can recommend. I'll post the review for the one in the book review area of this forum and the other I'll post on the main j/p thread and tag you both.

I feel the same way Samantha, I found this book more abuse than loving. I am waiting on her new book since I did enjoy her Fire & Vice series.

Lin - I enjoyed her latest book, The Assassian's Wife. There still were things I didn't care for but overall I liked it.
***small spoilers for things I didn't like***
I didn't like the conversations in the H's head where he mused that he knew he would have to kill her someday. I also didn't like that when the H and the h were first reunited he pointed a gun at her and thought about killing her. I didn't like that the h thought he would kill her and was surprised when he didn't. Nope, those things just don't work for me in a romance. No matter how dark the book is, no matter how twisted the H is, I never want him to even THINK about killing the h let alone point a gun at her and I certainly don't want the h to think he'll do it. It bothers me. Immensely.
I was still able to enjoy the book but those things took away from any "love" the couple had. It lessened it imo.

variedbooks - I'm glad you didn't accidentally read the other one by mistake only to discover an unhappy surprise.
Re: The Assassin's Wife - I forgot to mention that the H did fire his gun at her. Obviously, he didn't hit her but he did hit a mirror and the shards of glass cut the h. He was surprised that he didn't kill the h. Then when he took her to a remote cabin to "punish" her he still thought he'd have to kill her. He was very obsessed with her. Nikita Slater was able to show the reader how far gone the H was for the h and yet clueless to his feelings at the same time. I like stuff like that but I don't want my H's to want to kill their h's.
Prior to them arriving at the cabin, I was very worried that he'd abuse the h and beat the h like the H in Thieving Hearts did but thankfully he didn't. I liked that a lot and I loved their time at the cabin. (There was some rough sex especially when they first arrived of course but nothing too OTT imo.

I donāt mind rough sex (lol) so no issue there. Getting glass shards in face (ouch). I own it so I will eventually read it,
I'm glad your liking it. I reserved that one from my library but I'm like #5 on the wait list so it'll be a while. I would love to hear your final thoughts when you finish.

I liked it. I skipped over the scenes describing the horrific childhood trauma of the H & his āfamilyā. And the story could of focused more on the MC. The H has PTSD. He is fractured in many ways but I loved him
This book could of packed more of a punch if the h didnāt roll over so quickly after a certain incident. And I would of cheered her more if she had expressed her thoughts about it.
FYI- h is not a virgin Lol CF used the word p#ssy I knew she had it in her.

Uh oh. I don't like it when h's do that either. I don't understand why it's so hard sometimes for authors to write h's who do have a backbone.
The h did have a backbone but I needed her to have a stronger one (lol). Sheās not a typical Feehan h. Hope you like it when it comes up at your library.
