kc biggest pet peeve of lending out my books is if I get it back with dog ears. (One person even dared to write in one of my books, never again lent them any of mines) I'm the only one allowed to do any of that to my books and I don't do that.
sakuko ah the fan-fiction days, I got into fan-fiction because I wanted characters to hook up that never stood a chance. I found fan-fics by accident though, I got online one day and typed the two names and there was a whole new world to explore. I hung out with a lot of girls who loved Yaoi mangas and fan-fics, they were not my cup of tea but they were different and later on I introduced them to M/M romance novels once they wanted more.
Mari Library days were Thursday after lunch, I loved it, 1:15 to 2:00. We had a bunch of books in our house, but that library was the best place in the school.
I'm the Library Nana. I've been taking all of them since they could attend story time as little ones. We go every 2 weeks to pick out new books and they love it! I wanted to encourage a reading routine with them from very early on. I did that with mine and 2 out of 3 are big readers. The other reads, but it's not a hobby.
I read Anne of Green Gables at aged 7, a Christmas present. I became a voracious reader, reading everything - War and Peace at 10. I switched to romance only at 28 because I was pregnant, and had an issue with my heart which required me to avoid anything stressful. So I read Mills and Boon Romance, each with a HEA to keep me and my baby happy! It worked - he is now 35 and an avid reader too. I share a love of science fantasy with all my children, they were raised on Tolkien.
I’ve always been a big reader... from elementary and forward. But I didn’t really know that there was such a thing as just Romance genre til the summer of 1996. Went to a garage sale and bought a sack of paperbacks and was blown away. Not only was there a Romance genre but Historical Romance, too.
I can keep up with the date of 23 years (as of now) because that’s when Johanna Lindsey’s Say You Love Me (11/96) (A Hot) arrived at the Library. It’s still one of my most favorite books. So sorry to see that she’s passed on.
I have been a reader as long as I can remember. I started with Nancy Drew and then when I was about 12, my cousin gave me a Harlequin romance and my love of romance began. My grandmother subscribed to them and she shared them with me. I progressed to historical romances while also still reading harlequins.
I still read historicals, not as many harlequins but sometimes they catch my eye. I love romantic suspense! I also like a good thriller or mystery. Lets just say I love to read!
I've ALWAYS been a reader. Trixie Belden, Little House on the Prarie, the Hardy Boys were some of my childhood favorites. Fridays were library days. I could ckeck out as many as I wanted to carry home. Books were fun because my tv watchint was severely limited but books werent censored at all. Except for the summer when I was 9 or 10 and reading the Omen, Damien, Amityville Horror etc. My grandmother told me 'I was inviting the Devil into our house reading those horrid books' so I started reading the Flowers in the attic series Romance came later - maybe high school? By college I was firmly hooked. BEST present ever was my 1st year away at school. My mother got a paper ream box full of books for $5 at a yard sale and gave it to me for Christmas!
