I'm reading Edith Layton's It's a Wonderful Regency Christmas, a collection of 6 novellas. I am happy to read Christmas stories all year, actually, and this book has Layton's wonderful writing to recommend it. I've only finished the first story which is about a Duke trying to find something more in life than his title and wealth offer. It's very different in that you could say it's an interesting story about a good man, but not very much of a romance. I think it would have made a better full-length book, but I really liked it. On to story 2.
I highly recommend The Governess Affair (The Brothers Sinister) by Courtney Milan.
It's free for Kindle readers ~
Yay! I checked and that happens to be one of the books I already have. It seems I bought it in 2012... Sitting on Mt TBR collecting Kindle dust... 🙃

HA HA Same except I also own The Duchess War from 2016 both of which are still unread! But I like my HR in smallish doses so it really could take me forever to get to them
I finished reading the Stacy Reid book. It was so good. I needed a tissue when I was reading it. She never disappoints. Even though its only the beginning of November, that book may be my favorite of the month. Now I'm rereading The Secret Passion of Simon Blackwell by Samantha James.
I have several library books I should be reading. Instead I'm rereading Georgette Heyer's Frederica because I needed to enjoy something wonderful right now, which this is, IMO.
Started Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase. I know it's one of the most famous and acclaimed romance novels, plus I've read a few Chase novels before and adored them (Lord Perfect, Miss Wonderful and Mr. Impossible) but for some reason, I saved reading this one. It's so wonderful so far during such a stressful time that I think I knew I'd need to save it for an especially tough time.
I finished Hunting for a Highlander (Highland Brides #8) by Lynsay Sands and it was delightful.
I really liked "Talk Sweetly to Me"! Another favorite novella from Courtney Milan for me was "A Kiss for Midwinter". I think she's a great at novellas - it's tough to get the pacing and characterization right in them. Not many authors get it right. I haven't read any of her more recent novels...
I'm on hiatus from Natasha Anders' "The Best Next Thing." Somehow I got sucked into reading a few Kati Wilde novels, but after 2 I think I've had my fill of erotica for the moment. I should probably go back to Anders, which I really ought to like given the premise and set up, but I'm in the middle of it and it's telegraphed exactly how the main conflict is going to go, so... I don't know whether I'm dreading the resolution or just resigned to knowing exactly how the rest is going to turn out, lol.

I'm reading a reread of a reread, Eleven on Top (Stephanie Plum Book 11) by Janet Evanovich . I think mentioned this before but this book is hysterical! Stephanie's sister, Valerie, misses her own wedding by taking the groom and her daughters to DisneyWorld. The scene afterwards at home with the wedding cake, tipsy mother and the cake fight had me laughing with tears running down my face! Years ago I stopped reading these books because I thought they were a bit silly but now I'm enjoying them. Go figure. This is why I never whittle my TBR pile down, too many rereads!

I just started "Not Always A Saint" by Mary Jo Putney, my first from her. A doctor hero and a heroine with a young daughter sounds intriguing and very different from the historical romance I've been reading recently. Even though I'm in the mood for only historicals right now, I'm trying to keep away from repetition by jumping around countries/time periods/tropes/character types!
I finished reading The Deadly Hours, a dark but interesting mystery with 4 novellas written by 4 authors. I think I would have liked the book better if the stories had been longer. The mystery is about a cursed watch that causes death and destruction through the years. There isn't much romance, and I think we have enough death and destruction in real life now, so, IMO, I would say skip it.
