The Golden Age was a time period so I put it in quotes, I don't know of a book of that name. I could recommend some good books on Hollywood, if interested.
Thanks! I'd love the name of some good books on Hollywood! In regards to Hutton I think I read that she actually quit school in the 9th grade. I admire the fact that she went back, after all of her trials and tribulations and got her masters degree. I did read that Marilyn's mother had mental issues. Again, too bad she got mixed up with the Kennedy's.
I have a huge movie bk collection and movie paraphernalia collecting dust!
If I remember correctly didn't you work in Hollywood for a while??
My husband gets stuck on watching old TV shows. A few years ago it was Gunsmoke and such now it's Columbo. He's started recording them. I'll watch a bit then read. One thing I tend to do is google the guest stars. This week was Eddie Albert and Robert Culp. Interesting info can be found on them (if it's true).
The exciting thing that happened today - Amazon was delivering a package late this afternoon and I noticed the driver taking a picture of my garage doors. He waved, I went out and there was/is a massive, I mean really big hawk, on the driveway. The wings seem to be at funny at funny angles. I called Animal Control, I hate seeing an injured animal, and was advised to leave it alone. He said sometimes they run into things and "knock themselves silly". He said it can sometimes take a few hours before they get it together enough to fly away if they can. If it's still there tomorrow by 9:00 or 10:00 AM to call back and they'll come "scoop" it up. I hope, hope, hope it's gone tomorrow AM!
Update on my "hawk". It was actually officially ID as a Golden Eagle! I was told it's rare to see them here but in googling golden eagle they do live in the western states among other places. California is a western state! No wonder I thought it was a huge hawk! I'm glad he was able to fly off.

I've always watched MASH & NCIS to the point that I shouldn't need to turn on the tv--just stare at a blank wall and see the show. I've been watching a lot of Columbo and Perry Mason lately. And yep, I look up a lot of the actors--my mind is saying who is that...I know that face, or mannerism, or voice...thank heavens for IMDB! I am enjoying the stories in both of them, as well as the fashions of both eras! But I've decided the Perry Mason writers didn't care much for women--they're either dumber than a box of rocks, or conniving, or "bad" women (late 50's, early 60's version of bad). And why do they always have to pick up the murder weapon when they find the dead person? Even the halfway intelligent ones--pick it up & look at it like "what's this?--I've never seen a gun...poker...knife...etc before!" And then of course, the police know they murdered the person--their fingerprints are on the weapon. No where else, just there!
I commented the other day that after watching Lt. Tragg or Anderson (homicide police) just walk into the office or home or etc like they have all the rights, claim to have a warrant but not show it unless you demand to see it, etc; the way they hide evidence and witnesses from the defense, etc, I think they triggered a lot of the changes in our legal system in the 60's!
Some of the Perry Mason perps were dumb, some sly like a fox. Some female perps got hysterical w/ greed/ guilt.
But in modern times we still see men treat women like this is the 1950s. I just saw a Vanessa Guille doc. She served at Fort Hood- she repaired guns. She made 2 complaints about sexual harassment by COs, one said in Spanish -he wanted a 3-way. But she was ignored and murdered just chilling. In one year 28 Ft Hood soldiers were missing or killed. Head guy @ Ft. Hood should've been relieved of his command, ditto for head of the Army. The macho chain- of- command contributed to her death. I'm sure you've seen her beautiful face. She was sexually violated (?) killed and cut into pieces for rejecting a CO. The murderer acted like an animal & his gfriend assisted his grisly deed. I can't un-watch what her family went through.
My spouse was a peer- support counselor at the VA. His last job. He said about 1/3rd or more of the female vets were sexually harassed while in active duty.
BB- I believe Natasha worked in Hollywood for a time.
Not sure where this is coming from, but I've never worked outside of Maryland. However, I was offered a job @universal Studios in California to be a script girl! Visiting a friend in West Hollywood everyone wants you to live there so thru connections and having no desire to be an actress it was easy to get hired. Many years ago!
Here comes the sun even though I love that rainy day feeling!

Sorry, you were offered a job. If you took that job, you'd have ultimately become a producer or studio VP? You are smart and capable.
KC - Were the tornadoes in Ohio last night anywhere near you? So scary looking.
Nearest last night was about 2 counties north away: Delaware & Randolph counties in Indiana. Randolph is on the Ohio/Indiana state line as am I but I have Union & Wayne counties between us. No deaths there but plenty of damage. Logan Co. in Ohio is NW of Columbus but quite a ways from me. That's where the 3 confirmed deaths are. Yesterday afternoon we had a tornado down by the Ohio River. In fact, there is footage of it crossing the Ohio, but that was between Madison, IN & Milton, KY. They said there were 2 tornados yesterday afternoon in that area. I think bonnieg may have been closer to those! Happily, no deaths there either, just plenty of damage. Pictures of hailstones were pretty impressive as well! Several baseball sized & areas where it looked like snow on the ground!
No, I was closer to ones that went thru a week or 2 ago--one triggered the tornado warning on my cell phone--it was about 10 miles north of me. Heading east so I wasn't worried about me but it was heading towards the town where my sister & brother & their families live! Sister told me later; she, hubby & cats (in a carrier) were sitting on the landing on the basement stairs, watching the updates on their ipads and crossing fingers! Those did damage from east of Dayton to Columbus. So far, one heck of a spring!
