Not for me but thanks for listing. Would have liked Homo Deus, it might show up free in Aus in a couple of days
I‘m pretty surprised that any of these showed up as free.
When I click on them now, they’re no longer free, although the prices are low ($2.99 for Homo Deus; eReaderIQ gave that price as of 6 hours ago, though they verified it as free before that; same for Beyond the Body Farm — now $1.99 with eReaderIQ verifying that price as of 3 hours ago, but free before then; Tinseltown now shows $1.99, but was $0.99 when I started writing this post, and eReaderIQ still shows it as free)
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by R. Skloot 5 of 5 stars
Sad for Henrietta & her family. Uplifting for advances science made using Henrietta's cancer cells. Neither Henrietta nor her fam gave consent for these cells to be used in medical research. Informed consent was used less often by hospitals & doctors in 1951. It is a common requirement now. Henrietta died after receiving the standard treatment for her cancer.
What seems more interesting, although it’s historical fiction, is my recent posting of Sara Donati’s book about female doctors in 19th century New York
Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon.
Simon followed Baltimore homicide detectives for 1yr starting in 1988. This was engrossing and gross. For 2 nights I replayed in my mind what I'd read and had disrupted sleep. Finished @77%.
Simon was writer/ creator/ producer of TV show "Homicide: Life on the Streets (based on this bk)." Also later involved w/ "The Wire" etc.

The unabridged works take up 3 volumes, each $9.99
