Hey guys, back again with another book I forgot the name of. In this one the heroine takes care of her niece and nephew both named after their father. Dad is drunk/drug addict which is why they are suddenly in her care.
The hero lives in the same complex across the “breezeway”. I think he is a cop or detective because the heroines mother and aunt come over one day trying to take the kids, but H puts a stop to it and threatens to have a cop car come. Heroines place is busted into and destroyed - she works at a mattress place so her and the kids actually had really nice mattresses too.
this is all that I remember, but hopefully someone remembers the name!
