I've only read a few ow/ym books and I like them. I'm looking for a over 40 (preferably) or late 30's h and at least a 30 yr old H. I don't care for younger H's as it weirds me out now that I'm older. However, if you have a great book suggestion for ow/ym and he's in his 20's, please list it if the H is a j/p alpha.
Ow/ym books I've read -
On the Island (The H was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too young for me but the book was good.)
The Twelfth Sun - decent but haven't finished as the H is 25 and I struggle with the youngsters.
Noah (5th Street Book 1) - H is 20 and have 24 or 25 so the age gap was negligable. The H was exceptional and it didn't feel like he was 20 so I was able to enjoy it. I've read several in this series.
Breaathe - The H was early 40's and the H late 30's and the whole premise of this was fan-frwaking-tastic! I wish there were more books out there like this. The first half of the book was my favorite even though the H was a dick. I love how the h handled herself. (I got bored with the murder stuff and wish the book would've just been focused on the romance.)
I've read a few more but can't remember the names. In one, the h was the H's former babysitter. That icked me out too. Love the age gap but I heed the H to be a man and only a man in the h's life.
I also really need alpha H's who are preferably j/p. I don't care for beta H's.
I'm going to copy or move posts after my book review of The Island, so I can keep track of the recommendations.
The babysitter one might have been Bite & Release by Cory Cyr. I never could decide whether I liked that book or not. She kept treating the H like he was still a kid half the time, but then she would roll in sack with him. It made for a weird vibe.

You should read Baby Jane Doe by Julie Miller, one of my favorite authors. In this one, the h is 50 and the H is 36 or 38 (can't remember exactly). The book is part of her Pricinct series but it can stand alone.

The H is alpha for a Julie Miller book, but he is going to tamer than your usual j/p H's. He is an investigator on the police force and the H is the police commissioner, so they have to navigate not only the age difference, but also that she is his boss. He sees how she is being threatened and the emotional toll, though, and doesn't let her push away his help.

I knew I had one back in my ammie reviews. I went back and looked tonight. It's still for sale.
Her Immortal Love - by Diana Castle - currently only $0.99
I've copied my review here for you.
I quite enjoyed this story. It is short novel length, but felt long enough. It is written 3rd person POV from the heroines side only. This works really well, since the hero is supposed to remain an enigma until all is revealed at the very end.
The heroine is a divorced woman whose spirit and self confidence have been shattered by her husbands betrayal. She had very little self confidence to begin with because of her belittling mother. She meets a much younger man and they have a torrid affair. He gradually helps her find the strength to trust again.
The great mystery wasn't very hard to figure out. I knew what it was not very far into the story. There were still a couple of twists that surprised me though and figuring out the mystery didn't spoil my enjoyment. I liked the ending particularly. Without spoiling anything, I can say that it isn't the way these kinds of stories usually end and I think I liked this better.

secretromancejunkie - I finished Her Immortal Love and enjoyed it. Thanks for the rec.
Re: The "twist" as to what the H was - you know I was surprised because I thought he would be the "Tristan " from the legends of Tristan and Isolde. That made sense to me as they were poisoned lovers caught in a love triangle -she being married to his beloved uncle. They were poisoned with a love potion and ended up having an adulterous affair. I figured she was reincarnated Isolde or something. Sometimes I over think the book, lol.

Samantha K I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was referring to something a little more specific when I mentioned a twist at the end. I'm going to try and explain it without spoiling the book for others
Usually, in this kind of story, where one member of the couple is "normal" and the other is not, the HEA involves the "normal" person becoming like the exceptional person. A conversion of some sort. This time it was the opposite. I thought it made the story more relatable.
I was pretty sure I knew what the H was early on. It wasn't a surprise for me.

secretromancejunkie - I agree it did make it more relatable and it was a twist as most books go in the opposite direction. ***Trying not to spoil things here *** I wasn't surprised either that he was "immortal" - especially as it's in the title of the book. I was just expecting him to be the legendary "Tristan" & thus much older. I wasn't expecting his "immortality" to happen the way it did. I hope that makes sense.
I think Simple Jess and Courting Miss Hattie have ow/ym but I don't remember the age difference. They are also more beta the j/p but I enjoyed them anyway.
I didn't read this but the blurb says teacher/student (kinda controversial subject but it's L.J. Shen sooooo) Defy (Sinners of Saint) and it's on KU too.
Rode Hard (Rough Riders series Book 2) by Lorelei James is more erotica. I read it long ago and I don't remember much about it. The writers H are usually alpha.
Ellora's Cave has a series called Cougar Challenge. So it would be erotica and I haven't read any of them. Since EC went under I think some of them have been re-released but I am not sure. And I don't know if they have j/p H or not.
Crashed Out by Tessa Bailey part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I liked this a lot. I thought the H was alpha. I don't remember many j/p moments.

I've read all the Rough Riders books but it's been a while since I read this one. I liked it but it wasn't as awesome as her books usually are because it was two couple's stories crammed into one book. I do remember Gemma really struggling with the age difference between her and Cash, but Cash just keeps at her until she gives in.
I can remember one historical with the OW/YM trope. But I didn't personally enjoy it. The Stranger I Married - by Sylvia Day. Involves a marriage of convenience where both the H and h go their own ways for a while before they come together.

Thanks so much, ladies!! I put Crashed Out and Rode Hard on my WL. I'm going to check my library. I'm very interested in Crashed Out. It looks so good.
Since I have KU, I can look at Defy and grab it if I want. L.J. Shen is a great writer but Vicious was such a major a*s! He was too much even for me and I like jerky H's.
@secretromancejumkie - What didn't you like about The Stranger I Married? Was the H too beta?

The marriage of convenience was white. Meanwhile, they each continued their love affairs with other people. Then, after some time (I think about 4 months) he decides they should explore the lust they feel for each other. So he proposes an affair with each other within their marriage. After which they'll each go back to finding other lovers. It isn't long before he decides he wants more, a real marriage with monogamy and everything!
Too little too late for me. Once they started their affair they were only with each other, but I just couldn't get over the ick factor of how their marriage started.
