I finished Notice and I liked it. The H doesn't abuse the h AT ALL! Yay! He's definitely a weird, psycho stalker but he treats the h good. I'll post some spoilers below but if you decide to read it, Notice is available in this set Best of 2017 for $.99 so it's cheaper and you get other books.
The H is a very rich, successful businessman and the h is is personal assistant. She's worked for him for 6 years and he's never looked at her and never noticed her. (She was hired by someone else in the company to be his PA.) The H has some mental issue that makes it so he can focus on whatever objective he's focused on to the exclusion of everything around him. It's helped make him very successful but it's also why he really doesn't notice the h. (It sounds weird I know but it made sense in the story.)
At the beginning of the book, the h decides she's quitting and she turns in her notice. She does this by slapping her notice on his desk in front of him. This forces him to notice her. He looks up, "sees" her and BAM! He now has a new focus and it's her. The great thing about this was that the book switches POV from the h to the H. It really helped to understand his thinking process. The H decides right then and there that she's going to be his.
He's obsessed with her and begins to try to learn everything he can about her. He snoops through her computer, the personnel files, her FB account (when he figures out her password), her phone and he sneaks into her apartment and snoops around there too. He has a key made so he can let himself into her apartment. He watches her sleep. He undresses her, without her waking up and I've no idea how he did that. He undresses her so he can see her naked, jacks off on her and yeah - he even sleeps under her bed and jacks off. I'm not going to lie, it was truly weird. IRL that dude would be in prison. In the parameters of the story, it was still weird to me but because we are in his head and able to read his thoughts, it was easier to understand.
Again, he never hurts the h and never forces her. He treats he well and is very possessive of her. When they start being intimate, he wants to get her pregnant. She's going to be his wife and the mother of his children. She's his life.

I hope that info helps.
WOW, that sounds intense! I dont know if I should check myself in somewhere to get myself looked at or what. That sounds really creepy doing that to her!
I find it facinating that the things we wouldnt put up with, how someone talks or treats us or makes us feel in real life, we romanticize about in books. If a guy did that in real life to me he better thank the lord he ONLY went to jail cause I would have shot his ass!

Isn't that the truth. It was weird to read about that but being in his head made a huge difference. It didn't seem as creepy. Weird, I know. I mean it was creepy BUT he made it less so, lol.
I enjoyed the book but I don't like that kind of behavior and would prefer to not read anymore books where the H sleeps under her bed and jacks off. Just sayin', lol.

LOL, think I will give this book a try. Thank you for letting me know about it.
thanks for the info. I like to stick to reading shy capable heroines who get the oot j/p hero to be devoted to her but on occasion I'll give other heroine types a try...im really curious about Slater's other books now!
Nikita Slater's are OTT, controlling, j/p H's but from the 3 books I've read of hers, her h's don't seem to be the shy type. I can't speak for all of them since I haven't read them. Maybe someone else knows? I do know that she wrote a story with a blind woman as the h. I have that book but haven't read it yet. Maybe the h is more shy and capable?? Can anyone who has read Nikita Slater's other books give rgreader more info on the h's?
Also, maybe if you go into her other books knowing that the h's aren't the type you typically look for you'll like it more? Idk, just a thought.
I just finished Whiskey Neat (Uncertain Saints MC #1) by Lani Lynn Vale. I love her but that book was BAD. It had so many things in it that were just no's for me. I barely finished it and the only reason I did was because I love the author so much and I was wanting/hoping she would pull it all together. Honestly when I finished the book I was pretty much done with all the main characters and did't like any of them. I like the side characters but I looked it up and it looks like book 3 has the same storyline as books 1 and 2 so I put the series dow. I may try to finish it in the future but who knows.

belove, what didnt you like about it? I havent read it and would like to know if it is something I might like. Thank you.
Nikita Slater- I read Fear in Her Eyers but the heroine so annoyed me...the way she treated the guy who was friendly to her...not cool and her boss not cool. I have a few of Slaters other books but I'm weary those heroines are also annoying...but I so like the J//P heroes!!! Argh!!!
rgreader, I have read her Prisoner of Fortune (Fire & Vice #1) series and love them, but like you found Fear in her eyes a little tougher to read. There is a fine line between abuse and J//P hero.

What a bummer that an author you love wrote a book that you didn't like. I hate that because I think the disappoint is worse. When we love an author we have such high expectations and the fall can be steep. Sorry you didn't like it. Hopefully, you'll love your next book.
