I read two books by Emma Alisyn someone recommended that were available through KU; The Mountain King and The Silver Spider. I really liked them. The first book took me by surprise, because it's a shapeshifter (dragon) hero, a heroine with some magical abilities, and it's sort of steampunk. Normally I dislike steampunk, but this was fun. I'm really happy I didn't read reviews first, because I wouldn't have thought that it was my kind of book. The Silver Spider is about the h of The Mountain King's daughter. It also was great. I can't wait for more books in this series.
Dennie - You haven't read Dragon Bound ? Stop everything! Do not pass go! Do not collet $200 , lol.
Dragon Bound has to be one of the most universally beloved books from the j/p book. It is sooooo good! I haven't read the other books in that series as I've heard they aren't as good but I did buy a few of them when they were on sale.
Regarding the Meljean Brooks books, I'll post about them in another area as they don't fit this thread. (Iron Duke was one.)
I liked Dragon Bound, but my favorite is book 2 with the thunderbird H.
Dragons are my favorite shifter books but I'm incredibly picky about which ones I like. I want them to be growly and protective but incredibly sweet to the h. I also prefer a human h. The perfect dragon shifter to me is Donovan Drake in Releasing the Dragon (Myths and Legends Book 1) by Stacie Simpson (always free). The writing is not perfect, but I love the world building and the characters in this series.
@sherry, melissac - If you like dragon shifter books and you like j/p H's highly recommend you read Dragon Bound.
agreads - I've been hesitant to continue the series because I've heard so many people say the other books aren't as good as Dragon Bound and the books are so dang expensive that I wasn't willing to risk it. I've bought a couple when they went on sale for @1.99 but I haven't read them. I have book 4 and the newest one. I'll have to look closer at book 2. What made you like it better than Dragon Bound?
The interaction between the H and h was hilarious. He was trying to be all growly and possesive and protective, and she was using her own powers. She aggravated him to no end but in a really funny way. Like one scene she is trying to drive away and he can't catch up to her and finally gets so frustrated he sends a lightning bolt down in front of her car in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
agreads - Wow! That sounds really good and like something I'll enjoy.
Thank you so much for telling me about it. I probably wouldn't have looked twice at it, again due to all the comments about the rest of the series not being as good. I'm going to put it on my WL.
(Kind of doing the little happy dance right now. )
