D. Politis says: I'm counting down the days until Archangel's Viper releases. I'm excited to read Venom's book. It releases September 26, which is not this coming Tuesday, but next Tuesday. Archangel's Viper (A Guild Hunter Novel)
Lulu says: @d. Politis, me too! I need something to lift me out of my serious book hangover after reading the entire Acton & Doyle series non-stop, then re-reading it immediately. I love this series so much. I have started the final Star Guardians book by Ruby Lionsdrake, Zakota: Star Guardians, Book 5.
fogarty says: i need something to get me out of my reading funk in general i cant get into the fourth star guardians book which means i cant read the fifth unless everyone tells me i can skip four and still understand 5 i am in such a funk it sucks and i dont like it
Carol B. says: Barethoughts - thank you for Etched in Bone (A Novel of the Others)!!! I'm on Amtrak on my way home from a 2 week vacation at the national parks and now I have some awesome reading!!! Thank you so much. :-)
@fogarty, well, I think there are some things you should know before reading Zakota: Star Guardians, Book 5. Such as: * * * ***SPOILERS FOR STAR GUARDIANS*** * * Indi (Hierex's love interest) and Dr. Tala figure out how to interpret the Wanderer technology through music and help Sagitta and Hierex and crew figure out how to replace the broken Gate with an almost completed new Gate that they stumble on while on the Wanderer planet. Hierex also comes up with a super weapon to use on the Zi'i using Wanderer technology. They speed through the new Gate to where they were previously only to see the Zi'i flashing through the Gate on the other side, about to invade the Dethocoles star system. They are unable to warn their people in advance of the invasion. Also, so far, I kind of find Zakota's h, Katie, annoying. She wants to fly, fly, fly a spaceship and doesn't seem to care about anything else.
BareThoughts says: Carol - you are more than welcome. I was doing some shopping and checked a few wishlists. When I noticed that book on yours, I had to buy it. The Others is too great of s series to not share. You also have a few others on that list that like and may need to share.
BareThoughts says: I have a few new books to read, but nothing is catching my attention at the moment. Instead - I have been doing some rereading.
On another note - I am so amazed at some of the quick recovering in Florida, especially with the power being restored as much as it had (and how fast in some areas). I know many in Florida have a long road to fully recover, but the progress so far is impressive.
Douglas C. Meeks says: @vinity - I have to say I am really enjoying The Kingpin of Camelot (A Kinda Fairytale Book 3) , I thought it was going to be silly at first but this has been hugely entertaining and I am still a bit less than 60% done (because I am still recovering from the GoT Marathon I am also starting all the episodes of Stranger Things on NetFlix, making my reading very slow )
Vinity says: Doug, that's exactly what I said. I first I was like, this is going to be too much, but then you really can't stop. I've read like 5 of her books now. So far Kingpin is the best but all are readable. The older ones have real copy editing issues tho.
Vanessa C says: You know after reading the first 2 of the Dragons of Bloodfire books, I have suddenly realized that I am a dragon. I hunt and hoard away my books to create my treasure. Their hoards aren't all expensive treasures, but they hide them away none the less. I have a feeling that many of you here are part of one of the great dragon families too!! :-}
Before I start on the third Dragon's of Bloodfire book, Seduced by Fire: Dragons of Bloodfire 3, I thought that I had better start listening to one of the 8 books I bought during the last Audible sale, (see... hoarding again). So I am listening to The Duke and I With 2nd Epilogue (Bridgertons).
On kindle I have joined everyone else in reading The Kingpin of Camelot (A Kinda Fairytale Book 3). I've only just started it.
Douglas C. Meeks says: @vanessa - re: The Kingpin of Camelot (A Kinda Fairytale Book 3) Seems like most of us at the start were all dubious if we would even finish this book, but after a few chapters you are hooked
Vinity says: I hope Cassandra Gannon appreciates Ilona, I think she just made her career. Before Ilona rec'd her on her board, Kingpin was like 22,000 on amazon's sales, after Ilona's blog the lowest I saw it go was in the 130s and it hovered in the 300 range for several days, even now it's still doing well and her other books have increased sales many times over. I hope she got paid well for the Kindle Unlimited and I hope a lot of people bought it outright. If you like her and want her other books on KU I'd prolly grab them soon, I'd guess she'll drop out of KU now with these sales. I think there is a 90 day withdrawal so I think you prolly have a couple months to read them on KU
Douglas C. Meeks says: The "War of the Dolls" is killing me LOL
D. Politis says: I laughed so hard at the "War of the Dolls"
"We're not playing dolls. We're running tactical scenarios. It's educational."
HappyBookWorm says: Vanessa C, I loved your realization that you too have a hoard - I thought of that too. Didn't you love in the first book where Thane gave Emerson the first treasure in his hoard - what it was? It was adorable. (Dragons of Bloodfire)
HappyBookWorm says: I get a newsletter from Romance Rock Stars, just happened to look at it today. Under each book, they add a descriptive comment. This was under one of the books: "If you're unable to suspend disbelief and escape to the Rockstar Land of Fiction, then this book probably isn't for you."
I had to laugh. Not the greatest way to sell a book. The book is Amplify (Rockstar Book 3)
Vanessa C says: HappyBookWorm... I loved what he gave Emerson, it was precious. I like to collect the same things, (Thane's original hoard). I have a few, while worthless, that are precious to me too. That said, it made me smile and sentimental all at once. I've never been a "rock star" themed fan, but that would most certainly not entice me to read the series. I suppose it is supposed to be a tongue in cheek description.
Vinity... I was thinking the same thing about the Ilona recommendation. I didn't look up the data, but just looking at this forum, she must have done well for herself, at least I hope so.
HappyBookWorm says: Vanessa C, I hope she adds those little touches to her future books. That was one of the things that was so endearing about that first book. I also loved it when Thane met car.
Yes, I have boxes of preciouses from rock/fossil hunting.
Vanessa C says: HappyBookWorm... I knew that I liked you!! Birds, (or dragons), of a feather. ;-}
Traveling Reader says: I just wrapped up a fun trilogy on KU and it begins with Obsidian Liquor (Lion Security Book 1)
It was seriously excellent. Reporter meets mafia boss, and the sparks fly. And, along the way of the trilogy, you get to see various other couples hook up in explosive ways. Scarlett Dawn has outdone herself. The trilogy was so good that not only am I going back for a re-read, but I will buy the trilogy in paperback.
I started in her Origin series and enjoyed it, even if book 4 is now a wait and read.
Has anyone else read her books?
HappyBookWorm says: Traveling Reader, I'll put Obsidian Liquor on my KU list.
P. Bovalino says: I don't read mafia books. Does it use that alot in the book? I can't imagine a mafia book to be fun. That said I have read another one of her series that I liked not mafia based.
LAB says: I finished Deadmen Walking: A Deadman's Cross Novel. It was a struggle. This was pretty confusing. There were so many characters that got thrown in with little background information. And I noticed a few plot holes, unless the confusion was just so bad that I was not following on correctly. Different terms kept getting thrown in for magical things with no explanation of what they meant. I had no idea who the h was going to be until halfway through the book. I did read all the Dark Hunter books up until Acheron (though it was years ago) so I was somewhat familiar with the world, but it was just too much confusion for me to enjoy this book. Not sure if I will continue with the series. I had no idea what was going on half the time in this one, but I am interested to see some of the things from the ending resolved. So we'll see....
