I picked it up when it was on sale for $1.99 (currently $11.99 - sheesh!) I read this a few weeks ago and quite enjoyed it. There's a big age difference between the H and the h - 13 years. It was weird for me in the beginning due to the age difference. The H was 16 almost 17 and the h was 30. I was icked out thinking he was the H. Thankfully, the author did not have them get together until he was an adult but still ewww! (They were on the island for years.) I wasn't expecting to like it but I did. The story was interesting and the H came across as much older. I guess it's been optioned for a movie.

I enjoyed that one. I like age gap romances, and I thought On the Island was well done.
I enjoyed it too. I hesitated to read it because of the age factor but in the end it worked. I think maybe because he was so ill he had to grow up fast.
I like ow/ym romances now that I'm older - lol. It was just how young the H was that had me weirded out in the beginning. Luckily, nothing happened when he was under age and he came across as much more mature. When I read it I kept thinking, why didn't the author have the H be 18 when the plane crashed and 20 or 21 when they got together. (I did like The Island though which did surprise me.)
I tried it but I couldn't get past the age difference. It was a DNF for me.
I understand. It creeped me out that he was so young. I didn't mind the age difference but I wanted the H to be older. The story was well done though and I ended up enjoying it but I hope authors writing this type of story will age the H up. I'd like to read a story with a 32-33 yr old H with a 45-46 yr old h and it has nothing to do with my age-lol. Zip. Nada. Haha!

I missed this comment before somehow. You should read Baby Jane Doe by Julie Miller, one of my favorite authors. In this one, the h is 50 and the H is 36 or 38 (can't remember exactly). The book is part of her Pricinct series but it can stand alone.

agreads - Ooo sounds intriguing! I have a hard time finding good ow/ym books. What was the H like?
Also, does anyone know any good stranded on a deserted island romances? I've read Surviving Rain and a few others and I love this theme. I need an alpha j/p H though or I don't enjoy it as much.

The H is alpha for a Julie Miller book, but he is going to tamer than your usual j/p H's. He is an investigator on the police force and the H is the police commissioner, so they have to navigate not only the age difference, but also that she is his boss. He sees how she is being threatened and the emotional toll, though, and doesn't let her push away his help.

I quite enjoyed this story. It is short novel length, but felt long enough. It is written 3rd person POV from the heroines side only. This works really well, since the hero is supposed to remain an enigma until all is revealed at the very end.
The heroine is a divorced woman whose spirit and self confidence have been shattered by her husbands betrayal. She had very little self confidence to begin with because of her belittling mother. She meets a much younger man and they have a torrid affair. He gradually helps her find the strength to trust again.
The great mystery wasn't very hard to figure out. I knew what it was not very far into the story. There were still a couple of twists that surprised me though and figuring out the mystery didn't spoil my enjoyment. I liked the ending particularly. Without spoiling anything, I can say that it isn't the way these kinds of stories usually end and I think I liked this better.
I read On the Island but it icked me out a little. I do understand the age gap. I like that she didn't just start having sex with him right away. She had some internal struggle over being sexually attracted to him and I believe she made him wait a long time.
but I did understood was when they were back in civilization and he ended up having sex with some random student at a party. The h had broken up with him and told him to live his life and this confirmed that he only really wanted the h. The issue I had was I don't like it when they have sex with the h and end up sleeping with someone else. Though technically it was not cheating.
traveladdie - I enjoyed when they were on the island the most. The story of their survival was well done and rivoting. (Hence why I'm looking for more stranded on a deserted island romance.)
