I have no real particular preference, I hate sports in real life (my family's fault for following every sport played with a ball) but in books I am all for it,lol! I will say that good hockey romance is always a good option when I have nothing to read. I also love a good MMA fighter.

I don't read many sports romances at all. The exceptions were Kulti, and The Wall of Winnipeg. Loved both of those, so I guess it's a matter of reading anything if it's well-written, and appealing to me in character (slow burn).

linviolet - I hate sports too and then married someone who loves sports. So he watches his games and I read and viola! We're both happy! I probably lean more towards the fighter/boxer athletes.
dillydally - I don't read many either. I read The Wall of Winnepeg and Me and Kulti and enjoyed them both too.

Girl, I feel you. I am engaged to a man who loves sports, ALL sports. I have zero breaks from one season to another. His favorites are football American and European and baseball (a yankees game was still on when I left him half an hour ago). I am cursed to deal with sports lovers in my life, . Our compromise is he goes see the pay per view fights at the bar, and the other games he can watch at home with a few friends I don't mind, I make them snacks, his friends bring the drinks and he cleans up. The past two nights have been that way, lol! Usually I leave the living room and go right into our office or bedroom to read or watch something else, if it's during the weekend and day time I leave and go do something else.
The only time I ever watch is when the World Cup is on, dunno what it is about the world cup but I watch match after match. Every once in blue (very blue) moon I watch a MMA cage match.
These books at least sell a nicer fantasy than what it really is to play a sport and what it means to be married or dating the player. The books also make the games seem more exciting than they really are, if anyone has ever been to an actual baseball game... I have always fallen asleep, or read a book.
I loved Kulti and The Wall of Winnipeg, the relationships were amazing, female soccer player and then the football player. The woman has a way with slowly building relationships.

Lol, I soooo agree with you! I've been to a few and it's like freaking torture or something. The last pro-baseball I went to, we took 3 kids and my son was 5 months old. It was like 100 degrees or something and we were sitting in the sun! It was so miserable and I thought the game would never end. I told my husband never again. He can go to as many as he wants but I am never going to a pro-baseball game again.
I agree with you on the nice fantasy thing too and you're right, Mariana Zapata does a great job with relationship building and the slow burn.

Okay, wow a 5 month old at a game? Poor baby, poor you. I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew and another little niece on the way, the youngest he took them to a any game was 18 months and not by choice. I spent the entire time walking around with a cranky 18 month old while the proud parents watched their oldest daughter play. The also have fraternal twins and they were four at the time so... yeah never ever again until they were all older.

Yes, exactly. Baseball isn't for the babies, nor is it for me.
It is an art. But for all intents and purposes it better be or someone is going to explain to me why I had to attend all those tournaments. My younger brother's sport/discipline.

Baseball is for its true fans. Not for kids under 6 and uninterested, and people like you and me who don't care for the sport, lol! Though I have an invitation to a boxing amateur match, I am debating whether to go or not.

My top three are:
The Hookup by Kristen Callihan
The Deal by Elle Kennedy
and The Hard Count by Ginger Scott - LOVE LOVE LOVE. Itās YA which I normally donāt read but this one...I couldnāt put it down. So much more than just a āboy from the wrong side of the tracksā story.

Just to show you how nutty I am, after reading Kulti I decided to watch some soccer. It's on every Saturday morning and I still can't figure out the various points of the game, who can score and so on, but I'm enjoying it! I sit and work on my laptop and listen/watch soccer. We always went to various sports as a kid, 49ers, SF Warriors, Giants. It was fun. š
And finally, I have to give a shout out to Pairing off because a) there are not a lot of figure skating romances out there and b) it reminded me a little of an old favourite film
