Rookie detective Allison Doyle only has room in her life for one goal: to prove to herself and everyone else that she is every bit as capable as the men in her small-town Texas police department. But when vicious murder sends a shock wave through her community, Allison finds herself at the epicenter of a bigger challenge than she ever imagined. Legendary FBI profiler Mark Wolfe arrives to consult on the case and puts forth a startling new theory—that the crime is the handiwork not of the police’s prime suspect, but of an elusive psychopath Mark has been hunting for more than a decade. Facing skepticism from local investigators, Mark casts about for someone open-minded enough to listen to his theory—and zeroes in on Allison.
Teaming up with Mark puts Allison’s professional reputation in jeopardy—not to mention her heart—but she shoves these risks aside so she can tap into one of the FBI’s best assets. With Mark’s help, as well as an elite group of forensic scientists known as Tracers, Allison uncovers the killer’s true identity. Or does she? As the net tightens around a psychopath, Allison begins to wonder if she and Mark have trapped a killer or become ensnared.
The moment detective Reed Novak steps onto the crime scene, he knows the case is going to rock his world. A beautiful young woman murdered at home. No sign of forced entry. No motive. She’s obviously not the killer’s first victim, and Reed’s instincts tell him she won’t be his last. Reed’s first clue comes via a mysterious text that links to a dating profile, but even more intriguing than the clue is the person who sent it.
As a white-hat hacker in the Delphi Center’s cyber investigation unit, Laney Knox sneaks into some of the deepest, darkest corners of the Internet looking for predators. Laney would prefer to stay away from Austin PD’s most recent murder case, but she can’t ignore the chilling similarities between that crime and her own brutal attack years ago. Laney offers to help the sexy lead detective, but he wants more from her than just a promising tip—Reed wants her trust. Laney resists, but as their relationship deepens she’s tempted to reveal the closely guarded secrets that could make her a key witness…or the killer’s next victim.

I'm currently reading The Captivating Lady Charlotte, which has a young heroine (18 or so, first London season) and an older hero (30-ish widower). I can't give it an unreserved recommendation, since I haven't finished it, but I'm enjoying it so far. The romance definitely has a Marianne and Colonel Brandon feel to it, though it's by no means the same plotline. There is religious content, so if you don't care for that it may not be your cup of tea, but it doesn't seem overly preachy, at least so far. The hero I find particularly interesting, as he is a good mix of virtue and flaws. The heroine isn't bad, but very young and somewhat immature. I expect she'll grow as a character as life slaps her upside the head.
You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.
♥️The Navy SEAL and the Cupcake Girl♥️ Dear Love Vixen: I’m flirting with this guy who is almost as old as my dad. I mean, he’s hot as hell, and he’s a real man, not like the boys I’ve been dating lately. Is this wrong? I know, I know. I need to find out if he’s married, or with someone first, but he wants to take me out on a lunch date to discuss. Should I go, or nip it in the bud? I can’t stop thinking/dreaming about him. ♥️Cupcake Girl♥️
Dear Cupcake Girl: Nip it. Nip it. Nip it. Until you know what you’re dealing with don’t get your heart involved. Don’t listen to those naughty girly parts until you know he’s single and available. And by available, I also mean emotionally. Then decide what you want from him and what’s best for you. Which may or may not be the same thing. Good luck, hon. XOXO The Love Vixen ♥️
And From a Navy SEAL: “From the first moment I saw her I envisioned slapping frosting all over that cute little cupcake at the Baby Cakes bar. When I close my eyes, I’m dribbling warm chocolate sauce, powdered sugar, silver balls and sprinkles all over her body parts and then…OMG I shouldn’t be even considering dating someone so young. But I’m newly single now and this sweet young thing seems like just the right person I could take another bite out of love with. I’ve weathered the marriage storms and served my country well for twenty years. Isn’t a former Navy SEAL allowed a little fun?”
I've had the Immortal Valentines box set by that author for a while but never actually read it. I also have one of the Bonefrog novellas in my wish list on someone's recommendation, but again have not read it yet.
