Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Could be she's looking for a "daddy" figure or she may just be in love with a more mature man. That being said there are tons of "young things" who are just looking for security and someone to "pop off" sooner rather than later. The sooner he "pops off" the sooner she gets his money.

It seems in HR books, the heroine was forced to accept man who Daddy chose to cement an alliance. Husband was 2-3X her age. When he died, then she could be genuinely free IE have an affair, seek love, support a charity project, travel.
Some mature men have confidence and maturity that a younger man does not have.

Oh, I agree! A Father or older brother choosing a husband for this daughter or sister has been happening for hundreds or years. It was mostly for money or alliance with another power. And lets be honest, MOST men don't mature until they're in their 50s (ha!) or even older (ha!).

Hi BB-----
Men maturing is a whole other discussion. LOL!!! Maybe they start to mature once only one partner looks good & possessions mean less than the love of his sweetheart and family? Who would cheat on Halle Berry, one of the most beautiful women in the world?? Obviously there are 2 sides to every story.
An idiot has cheated on Halle Berry. I think one or two of her ex-husbands were caught cheating.
Yes, she deserved much better. Her musician husband, blanking on his name, reportedly claimed sexual addiction. Dr.Phil said in an interview there is no such thing as sexual addiction. Phil said mostly males claim this once they are caught. Michael Douglas claimed it, as did David D. from X files.
This month I read a romance with a widower of 54 & a spinster of 52. He was too passive b/c of treatment by his late spouse who overspent and left them in debt.

Makes you wonder why he put up with her.
True, his late spouse was too bossy, he didn't want to cause drama for his kids. But now his adult kids blamed him for the estate being in arrears. He should have reasoned with the wife, if that didn't work, he could've lived in one house and wife in another?
I would not call the widower a beta-guy, just too passive. Not a hero to me. A hero should defend himself verbally and if needed physically.
