Is there another notification setting for when someone replies to a thread you’ve created (participated in)?
My setting for “PARTICIPATED” is set to INSTANT (email notification) for threads I’ve participated in.
For example, my thread “I HATE oatmeal.” I didn’t receive notification that Banana Boat, citkat, sherry, or agreads had responded but did get an email that FangFan and alyrica did.
At the very least, I try to be courteous and acknowledge that someone’s responded to me with a thumbs up. But now I’m worried that I may have missed a post directed to me.

Bruin Girl - Sorry you're having a problem. I'm not the techie here but I'll try to help you.
To receive e-mail notifications on threads, in your forum notification settings, you can select participated then instant (as you indicated you have already done) or one of the other options. Double check this setting and that the forum box is also selected or checked. You can also bookmark threads by selecting the "bookmark" option which is located in the "actions" area of the thread. The "actions" area is just left of the search bar. Make sure you then set the bookmark settings to "instant" in your forum notification settings and that the forum box is selected as well. If your bookmark setting is different than your participated setting, the system will use the bookmark setting first for bookmarked threads.
FYI - If you ever feel you are getting too many email notifications, select the "Smart" option. The "Smart" option waits until you have a particular number of notifications in a time period (lets use 4 for an example) and sends out all of those at once since they came in together within a time period as a singular notification/email. The system tries to use best judgement on still regularly notifying you but without giving it to you always "instantly" but within a reasonable period of time "grouped" together.
If you have done things things and are still having a problem, I'll have to have Dennie or agreads help you.

Thank you @samantha K, and sorry for my delayed response. I haven’t been on all week but will go thru and bookmark the threads as you’ve indicated. I don’t think I’ve missed anything directed specifically to me this week (I hope!) So far the amount of email hasn’t been too much so I think I’m good there. Thanks again!

You're so welcome! Also, you should check your spam folder.
Sometimes if multiple emails arrive on within a certain time period, the email provider automatically marks it as spam. Also, if other users of that email provider have marked as spam the same sender, the provider will set that sender as spam. I get an email once a month from a plce, and no matter how many times I mark that sender as not spam, they go to my spam folder every two or three months.
