I'm reading a book right now, in which the hero's actions could only be described as "stalkerific". He goes to amazing lengths to secure the woman of his dreams.

The hero remembers a single night that changed his life. A woman comes to him in the night and gives him her virginity. Then in the morning she rejects him. Refutes his claim and has him thrown out. Four years later, he finds out that a child came of that night. But now he's discovered that he had the wrong woman all along. The actual mother of his child comes to confront him and take the child. In a moment of panic, he shoves her into an unused attic room and locks her in.
Over the course of the next several days, he tries to convince her not to take his child away. Not to hate him. In fact, he wants to marry her. But is locking her up in an attic the way to convince her? Late each night while she is sleeping, he gradually transforms her prison into an oasis. But still he keeps her locked up.
