I thought I'd start a thread for cyborgs. I love Laurann Dohner's cyborg series. The first book I did not enjoy that much, but the rest of the series is excellent.

Yeah, that one's not my fave - so glad I had the New Species experience with her, so I knew she writes some good sh!t and that kept me going. The books got WAY better and it's now probably my fave cyborg series. I love me some cyborgy-boys! I also read the Cynthia Sax series. Which I liked, but not as much as LD. The other ones I did really love were the Eve Langlais Cyborg books, I think it's called the More Than Machines series.
I have not read book 1 or 3 in the Cyborg Shifter series, but I adored Storm Surge by Naomi Lucas (KU). I mostly like Laurann Dohner's Cyborg Seduction. It is very hit-or-miss. Thinking about it, there are only 3 out of the 10 books in that series that I actually fully enjoyed.

Bibliowyrm, I forgot about Kaitlyn O'Connor. I wish she would write more but with less cyborgs per heroine. That aspect is sometimes a bit over the top. I actually whish she'd edit it and expand the abrupt endings and publish them in bundles.
I haven't seen that book before, so it doesn't look like a re-issue. I checked my library (I have these on Nook) and I don't have it but I do have the other 7.
I love cyborgs! I´ve read the Dohner, Sax and O´Connor series that have already been mentioned, but I also really liked Eve Langlais´ More than machines series. I particularly like Aramis the surly cyborg
I remember liking Mina Carter´s Zodiac Cyborgs series years a go - I was sad that she gave up on that series.
Lindsay Buroker´s Fallen empire series has a cyborg hero, but it is a veeeeeeeeeeery slow burn romance - so unless you like space operas with no sex and a slow burn romance you might want to skip that.

Wow! So many series to check into! Yay! Thanks for your post.

I've read the first two books in that series and wow! Talk about creative! I enjoyed those books alot! I'm not saying that they were perfect or that the H is my ideal H but the H's were so unique and the story well written enough that I devoured them. I love it when I read a book that has a more unique, less predictable story. (Besides the romance aspect I mean. I don't want my romance messed with, lol.)

I agree! Unique stories are not as easy to find as I would like. However, if it is a romance, there must be the standard romance steps along with the hopefully unique story. Don't mess with my HEA/HFN.
I really liked Naomi Lucas' 3 cyborg books for being unique shifter/cyborgs. You just don't see those varieties in shifter as the H nor that kind of cyborg. Totally unique, imo.

I completely agree. (That's what I meant.) Regardless of the genre or the story being told I need my romance to actually BE a romance. Too often, I've read books marketed as a romance that aren't actually a romance. This is actually a pet peeve of mine. Just because a book has a couple that meet and fall in love, have sex, etc doesn't automatically make it a romance. As we romance readers already know, to be a romance a book must meet two irreversible criteria. One, the main focus of the book must be about the couple and their relationship with everything else being secondary and number two, it must have a hea. Period. That's not just my defination of a romance novel but the actual definition of a romance novel. Any book that doesn't meet those two criteria falls into another category like chic-lit, a love story, etc.

I agree. I certainly have never read a book with a cyborg spider-shifter, a cyborg snake-shifter nor a cyborg shark-shifter. (I haven't read the 3rd one yet.) Just learning about the H's was interesting to me, let alone the romance and the story. I will say that the spider-shifter felt like more of a beta H but I still enjoyed the book. Since I dislike betas, that's saying something.

I didn't think of him as beta so much as concerned with how different he was to the heroine. I thought he was going out of his way to seem less different and it came across as beta. I would love to see a followup snippet of their relationship!
