This is a contemporary romantic suspense. The H (hero) in this book is a wonderful jealous/possessive alpha who is totally focused on the h (heroine). The H thought the h, his wife, was dead for the past three years. Even though heβd buried a body that he was told was her and the DNA test proved it was her, he struggled to believe she was dead. It made no sense but there was something inside of him that refused to let her go. He was with OW during the 3 year separation but they were one night stands. He kind of lost his marbles when he first lost his wife. He'd drink heavily, sleep around and didn't care about life. The h was the love of his life and he never moved on emotionally. She was everything to him.
The h, meanwhile, has amnesia. During their 3 year seperation she was with OM because she was told by OM that they were a couple. She had no reason to not believe OM. The OM and h had been friends for years so he did feel familiar to her. (FYI - there's no ow/om once they are together.)
The book begins at the end of the three years. Their first meeting was pretty awesome! I loved how possessive he was. He's very possessive of her throughout the book and at one point there's a spanking scene. The book seems well edited and the author has a great voice.
My only critique is that I wished the book focused more on the couple and their romance rather than the story. Don't get me wrong, it does focus on them but it equally focused on the other story too which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I really like the H and h and wanted more j/p scenes. The H was really fun when he was jealous.

I read this one a few years ago and really liked it. I went on to read book 2 when it came out Always Been Mine (Always series Book 2) and I liked it also. I have found that I like most of this authors books although there have been a couple that just wasn't all that crazy about.

The author is good and I liked the way she wrote the H. I'm just not a big fan of romantic suspense. I think many people who like j/p H's will love this.
I agree. I think Victoria Paige is a great writer and her books are excellent. I love her H's too. I think anyone who likes romantic suspense and a great j/p H will LOVE her!
Bumping the post to add that Victoria Paige has a new release due out in Feb . Apparently her H is J/P .. Special pre-order price for a short time only $0.99

Thanks for posting.
I pre-ordered my copy even though I have KU and Victoria Paige's other books are available on KU. Victoria is such a good author and $.99 is a bargain. You know that's saying something as I don't even like romantic suspense, lol.

I read It's Always Been You (Always series Book 1) some time ago and really liked it . I didn't know there is a second book, I'll look it up. Thank you!

Glad I just found this thread and just like tangerine had this book TBR and now 1st in my carousel!
Here comes the sun even though I love that rainy day feeling!
I'm reading It's Always Been You now and so far looking forward to what happens next with each page. Ironically I just finished a Harlequin about a wife with amnesia, but no way to compare the two stories as the Harlequin did have some intrigue but little substance.

I'm @96% but my dog barked to go out, the phone rang, and I have Peapod food delivery at the door so here it is 2hrs later doing chores etc haven't finished the book. However I have never liked instant gratification so I can still look forward to the last few pages. I loved this book especially for the dialog and not a lot of description. Also could relate to their environment since I live in Maryland. However the author had Silver Springs, Maryland and Spring does not have an S on the end. LOL I am a geography nurd!

Natasha - Yay!! I'm so glad you liked it! I love the amnesia theme in this. It was executed perfectly.
Lol on being a geography nerd.

It's Always Been You is also being discussed on the J&P thread where Banana Boat mentioned the author Victoria Paige is a member here and answers ?s on the author board. I'll have search those threads. I stated on the J&P thread just now how impressed I am with this book and excited to look forward to more in this series and have already pre-ordered her new book Captive Lies which is not yet listed on the author page on Amazon. I need to be a cat so I can have many lives to read all the ones on my tbr list. Rats!
