I loved this story. It has one of my favourite tropes. The h is guilt ridden by past events, to the point of being unable to contemplate any kind of intimacy. The H every so gently pushes and coaxes her into willingly trying with him.
The h volunteers her time to create a Firefighter calendar. The H is the person she desperately wants for Mr. July, but he keeps saying no. She finally corners him in the station locker room and he agrees, but only if she'll go out with him. He continues this ploy, insisting they spend time alone together in order for him to take the next step for her calendar.
Once she confesses her reasons for avoiding intimacy, and hence him, he redoubles his efforts. But it never feels non-consensual, not even slightly. He always gets her consent to take the next step. He spends hours just laying with her kissing and holding her, until she feels ready for more.
This is only a 200 page novella, so there is not a lot of depth to the story. But it was very satisfying and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
