These are not romances, at least not what I consider romances. They are more like stories with a romantic element. I also have a pet peeve. If you’re going to put the word SEX in the title of a book, it should exist somewhere in the story, right? But that’s only a small part of my low rating.
They are all written 1st person POV, which is not my favorite, so that probably knocked them down a ½ star for me. Mostly though, these are chick lit, (which, again, is not my favorite genre) with a “winning the guy” element somewhere in the story.
The Trouble with Witchcraft by Holly Chamberlin – Holly is a terrible witch. She probably should never cast spells because they always go wrong. One day she tries to cast an attraction spell on a guy she likes and he disappears – for an entire year. When he returns, they start dating, but he doesn’t know that she’s the reason he was banished. (Kiss, fade to black).
Single White Witch by Carly Alexander – magical people live on a different plan. Annie has an assignment on earth (she’s a reporter). She’s about to be sent back to the magical world and she doesn’t want to go. No obvious H in this one until the last five pages. (There might be a kiss, I can’t remember. There is a, one page, scene of “the worst sex I ever had” with some random guy)
The Witch's Guide to Life by Theresa Alan – Ariel meets a guy and he is the first person to ever buy one of her paintings. But once they start dating, she can’t paint, so she breaks it off. Now she can’t paint and she’s miserable. (one page of PG-13 sex that results in an injury). There is also a side story about her sister Faith. Faith is a single mom with 2 girls and she’s depressed. She’s also obsessed with her neighbor, who she believes is a serial killer. Then he asks her out and it’s all good.
Cute stories about witches. Each ends with an HEA for a couple (or at least a HFN). They are not, however, romances.
