Prudence had shyness, anxiety and a stuttering problem. Her mother thought her simple-minded and told her to just stop stuttering!
Prue's late father affectionately called her "my little lamb." Cousin Eliza tormented her by mocking her & saying in public "Baa Baa."
Eliza manipulated her into anxiety attacks. When Prue discovered she was a new heiress ( after her aunt's death), her social-climbing
mother forced her to meet men at a house party.
By chance, Prue met unconventional Cam at the house party. He had a rep for engaging in fisticuffs & cheating at cards (not entirely
accurate). He offered to stay by her side to guard against insincere men. Prue felt safe w/ Cam. Cam resolved to change into a better
man for her sake.
The women of the Spinster Chronicles befriended Prue. Prue grew in confidence and verbally challenged some folks. The sticking point in
the story for me? Prue needed a catharsis & the author denied her one. A witchy woman publicly lied about the H + h & Prue needed
to give her a verbal set-down & did not.
