The Ice Queen, took place England 1817.

Julian distrusted beauties b/c his mother cuckolded his father. She ran away with the OM. Caroline, niece of a duke, felt cursed
by her beauty. Men assumed she wanted to dance. By her own admission, Caro acted frosty toward most men. The H + h
were like 'oil and water' together.
Julian considered his late father's mistress (ton well aware of this), Lady Margaret, his mother of choice. They lived together, &
he referred to her as his 'Aunt.' Most likely society thought the dad's former mistress became the son's? Caro would calmly
overlook this?
Julian & Lady Margaret hosted a house party. Unknown to him, his childish/ vengeance-seeking birth mom invited Caro. Why was
birth mom allowed anywhere near the guest list? The H + h were pleasantly surprised to know each other beyond superficial
impressions.
Some 'flies in the ointment:' the baddie got off too easily for his actions toward the h & Caro's mom was way too casual about
Caro's virginal status or lack there of. Was this the year 2019? Sorry, this story had too many annoying elements for my taste.
