Men who Walk the Edge of Honor – Four Book Series – Lori Foster
Heat 8-9 / 10
Genre – romantic suspense
Trigger warning – discussions of abuse suffered by women caught by human traffickers. Mild to moderate.
I really enjoyed this series. The men are all J/P alphas but never in a bad way. They are very caring and gentle with women. Although the men are all of a similar type, they were different enough that they felt distinct. The women were each quite different. They had very different personalities and ways of dealing with the traumatic experiences they’d had. Only one had not been directly taken by traffickers, but her mother had, and it affected her entire life.
The men, starting with Trace and Dare, run an operation that rescues people who have been kidnapped or taken by traffickers. More and more, their work concentrates on taking down human trafficking rings.
When You Dare – 5/5
The H, Dare, has just rescued his partner’s sister. At the same time he rescued another woman who is unconscious. When she comes to, she immediately lashes out, but them calms down once she realizes she is safe. Her name is Molly. Molly knows that someone paid the traffickers to specifically take her and she hires Dare to help her find out who. Molly is very practical and pragmatic. She’s scared but she faces her problems head on. She tries very hard not to give in to the fear and anxiety. Dare is just wonderful with her.
Trace of Fever – 4/5
Trace (Dare’s Partner) is after a particular bad guy. He’s working undercover as the badie’s personal bodyguard when this woman shows up claiming to be his daughter. Priscilla (Priss) wants to kill this baddie because he held her mom captive and raped her. He also shared her mom, so he may or may not be her actual father. Priss and Trace try to work together, but Priss keeps going off the script. The h was the reason I didn’t rate this on higher. She was a bit to tstl sometimes.
Savor the Danger – 4.5 / 5.0
Jackson Savor is a new addition to the group. From the start he’s been hot for Alani. Alani is Trace’s sister. The one that was rescued from traffickers in book 1. She’s shy, and skittish, and unable to let any man get close to her. At the start of the book they wake up in bed together. Jackson is violently ill and Alani mistakes everything and runs away. Turns out someone drugged Jackson and he has no memory of their night together. There are baddies after both of them. Alani is trying to get past her trauma and Jackson is very sweet with her. He’s also quite the card. The man has a smart mouth.
A Perfect Storm – 5/5
The h in this one is Arizona Storm. She’s a woman that Jackson rescued from traffickers a few years ago. She’d been held by them, and pimped out by them for about a month before she escaped. They caught her and tried to kill her. Now her only goal in life is to catch more human traffickers and kill them or put them in jail. She keeps using herself has bait. Spencer is a bounty hunter that has started to associate with the other three men. He fascinates Arizona. For the first time, she actually likes the touch of a man. But all four men want to keep her away from the action. They want to protect her. But Arizona can take care of herself. She’s ballsy in the extreme. She wants to partner with Spencer, in work and in bed. Kudos to Spencer for understanding her better than anyone.
