The h of this story, Pepper, is an unemployed software engineer. She agrees to travel to London (Ontario) to join her cousin at a renaissance fair. Her cousin is a regular attendee and has met the love of her life there. Pepper is dragging along her Aunt and Uncle’s cat, who she is stuck cat-sitting. His name is Moth (short for behemoth) and he provides a lot of the funny moments in this story.
At the fair, the h meets Walker. He seems like the man of her dreams. He is a farrier now, but he used to be a world champion jouster. He also trains the jousters on the team her cousin’s boyfriend is with. Things are going well until suspicious things start to happen to the team.
There are a lot of mildly humorous moments in this book. There are few laugh out loud moments. There is also a lot of information about jousting and ren fairs. It seems to be a well researched story. I enjoyed reading all the detail that the author added.
