I read Pathfinder's Way by T.A. White. It's a fantasy with some romance. Set in a world for dangers from beasts and mists, villages and towns are separated by great distances. To navigate the dangers a pathfinder is assigned to a village and leads trade groups to neighboring towns. I liked the idea of wilderness guide Pathfinders. It's also refreshing finding a fantasy plot without a whiff of magic or mysterious talents involved. Shea is a Pathfinder. She's smart but also a bit singular. She's good at giving orders, not so great at taking them or explaining herself. She tends to talk when she shouldn't then stays silent when she should be speaking up. I would have liked a bit more romance between Shea and the warlord, Fallon. I liked the story enough to read the next book in the series. If you've read and liked Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan you may want to take a closer look at this series.
