Wayfarer's Keep wasn't a terrible conclusion to the Broken Lands series but it fell flat for me. Maybe my expectations were too high. Shea and Fallon finally reached the Pathfinder's Keep and found dissension in the ranks. They had to overcome many challenges in merging the Trateri and Pathfinder's into a cohesive group. There's distrust on both sides. They had to prepare for battling back the attacking beasts as well as beware of traitors. To save both the Pathfinders and Trateri Shea had to go into the heart of the Badlands to defeat their enemy. I liked how the relationship between Shea and Fallon grew. They became closer and behaved more as a team.
I was waiting for the history of the Pathfinder's, the Keep, the Beasts and what caused the cataclysm to be revealed. Basically answers to all the questions and mysteries that were glossed over in the first two books. None of that happened. There were hints and very brief pseudo explanations that explained nothing. "Our ancestors were greedy" reveals nothing at all. That disappointed me. The characters and the idea of the Pathfinders was great though. I'd recommend the fantasy series with the caveat that the reader will have to rely on their own imagination to provide answers to the burning questions.
