Vendetta in Death (In Death, book 49) - J.D. Robb

I started in about 4 Tues. morning, read till about 9, had to go to the grocery (had to hit certain sales that were about to expire...I should have done that Monday!!!), did some other stuff & about 4 pm, picked up the Kindle again & finished it! Not to rub it in anywhere, but I LOVE BEING RETIRED WHEN AN IN DEATH IS PUBLISHED!!!! And I'm not really LOL up above, BB, just chuckling quietly!!!

kc....glad you like my avatar.  I wish I could remember where I originally found it.  I've used it for so many years I forget where it came from.  I probably searched on images of seal bi-color Ragdoll cats.  That's what kind of cat I have.  She's not crazy about having her picture taken.  I have used her pic but she looks rather crazed. I prefer a calmer avatar. 

I understand about the timeline of the In Death books. Origin in Death was #21.  The actress that was murdered while the vid was being filmed was Celebrity in Death #34.  I know I'm in the minority but I'm just tired of reading about the Icove Case.

I think we'll have to accept our differences regarding Rourke.  That's OK with me.  Different opinions make the discussions interesting. 

See what happens when I sequester myself away so I can devoted quality time with Eve and Roarke...I get blamed for your addiction.  Oh, wait...yea, that was me.  Okay...guilty as charged!!

Oh, and Jillian is the one who found your aviator.  She sent it to me, I thought it was cute, then forwarded it to you.  Mystery solved!

Speaking of mystery.  I just finished listening to Vendetta in Death!  I agree, not her best, but not her worst....I give it 3.75 / 4 Stars, too.  Although I understand the timeline for Eve's cases only encompasses a few years, this book really had the characters gushing over Eve and the Icove case.  I think sometimes J.D. Robb has fun with it.  

I didn't feel Roarke was as involved in this book as he's been in others.  He wasn't there, other then a few scenes, until farther in to the book.  I know you and I have discussed Roark taking a more active role in Eve's cases.  You've felt for awhile he's neglecting his business of world domination and buying up the solar system.  I guess I look at his desire to become involved in Eve's cases as his way of being closer to her. He genuinely loves Eve and wants to be a part of her world. (and he's good at it)  Before Eve he had nothing else to distract him from work, work was his center.  Remember when he told Summerset he never stayed at the house for any major length of time because it never felt like a "home" until Eve came along?  I think that was the same for his work.  He loves to wheel and deal...he a pro at it. Then again, he prides himself on finding the right people for the higher level jobs....and maybe now with Eve he has a distraction he enjoys.  Which means he's letting his talented group of managers take the reigns on some of the details he use to handle.  Although, that man wakes up way too early and has several holocalls before Eve has her first cup of coffee! Isn't it amazing how each person can read the same thing and see/feel it differently?  Makes for great discussions!

I've read all the books and I've gone back and listened to the entire series, too.  I love Susan Erickson's narration.  She does such a great job with each character's voices that I instantly know who's speaking.  It's also nice she's been JDR's narrator since the first book, Naked in Death.

My favorite line in V in D came from Mira.  "Sometimes loves comes with mozzarella."

You know, I lose track of how far back; hard to believe The Icove case was 28 books back! Ah well, still enjoying it. I think my favorite part about the whole Icove movie, etc, is when the gal in the elevator insisted that Eve was the actress that played her in the movie & really got rather huffy when Eve kept denying it! Never occurred to her that she was talking to the real deal instead of the actress. Yep, I snickered!

You're right; some of the best part is the discussion! So glad I can discuss here because no one that I know in person read the books! I say anything about the new book & I either get glazed over eyes or irritated looks. Ah well, they just don't know what they're missing!

Have you ever told them how many books are in the series?  The topic of books came up when I was at my stitching group and I mentioned the In Death series and how I'm looking forward to the next release.  (Which was Vendetta)  One of them asked how many were in the series...and when I told them J.D. Robb is coming up on her 50th book there was complete silence.  The next question was "And you've read them all?".   Of course I have...they're THAT good!!  LOL!!
