I dug deep into the dark recesses of my kindle and found Hunter's Exiled Lady. I've had it for 2 years. I've read and enjoyed a few other books by Susan Kelley but for whatever reason I never read this one.
After a plague kills off nearly all the humans the few survivors are living in domed enclosures. After 300 hundred years the domes are failing. Soil they grew food in is exhausted and the people are starving. To keep the domes demise from the general public those with power start decreasing the population by exiling people they don't need. Arissa and 4 others deemed a burden are put into a rail car and sent out of the dome to die. Dealing with exposure to both the virus and the cold the five know there is no hope. Until they are found by Brody Gibbs and his brother Forrest. For years the leaders in the dome have been exiling people to the outside. In an effort to save as many as possible Brody's aunt has been working on a vaccine. With the new trial vaccine Arissa and 3 others in her group are able to survive the virus. They learn that there were survivors living outside the domes and have to adapt to a completely new way of life. Although the relationship between Body and Arissa moved quickly it wasn't one of those insta-lust / sex books. I liked both Brody and Arissa. I thought they made a great couple who respected each other and worked well together.
Like most books published by New Concepts there were a few plot holes and a lot of story gets packed into 200 pages. The story was entertaining though. I liked it enough to rescue the next book in the series from my kindle dungeon and start reading.
