The h of this story is a journalist. She’s hiding out at the family ranch after nearly getting killed in Argentina. She’s also angry that she may have fallen for a man who wants nothing to do with her. Finally her editor (and her father) convince her to go back for a story. She immediately ends up in the line of fire (literally) and mister rude but wonderful rescues her, getting himself injured in the process. When the badies come after them the 3rd time, it becomes clear who the real target is.
This is the second book I’ve read from this series (yes, I actually read one out of order, gasp!). I like the author’s style. It’s good clean writing. I’ve found very few errors or editing issues, and they were minor. So far, I’ve liked the way she develops her characters too.
The suspense, is very good. Not gory, although injuries do occur. Complex enough to keep the reader guessing. Definitely has edge-of-the-seat moments.
My only complaint would be the romance portion. It’s not terrible. The romance is nice, and you see it develop over the story. But it is overshadowed by the suspense. I want more of a balance between the romance and the suspense. If anything, I would prefer the romance take top billing.
