I enjoyed the second book in the Survivors of the Apocalypse, Horse Tamer's Fiery Lady. The survivors of the plague know that those living under the dome may be safe from illness but they're starving. Those living outside the dome need the people inside to provide genetic diversity or humanity is doomed. In an effort to find a vaccine that can be mass produced Forrest Gibbs and his siblings decide to kidnap Dr. Madden Lake from the dome. Madden is also Arissa's best friend from the first book. Of course things go wrong. Forrest escapes with Dr. Lake but his sister and an ex guard from the dome have to be left behind inside the dome. Forrest knows he has to inject the Dr. with the trial vaccine, wait for the Dr. to overcome the fever and get her to the Gibb's fort as soon as he can so the Dr. and Auntie can find a way to mass produce a vaccine. Although there's an instant attraction they don't succumb. Like all those that have been cast out from the dome Madden is terrified and curious of the outside world at the same time. The trip back to the fort is long and dangerous. Although both characters have their insecurities they do work well together. There's plenty of snappy banter and insults to cover up their growing feelings. They made a good couple. I like that the story arc progressed along with the budding romance between Forrest and Madden.
