Cold as January was a KU book and started off with a bang. January has been having an affair with her friend's orthopedic surgeon father. Now she pregnant. When she told Dr. Giles Nixon the happy news he hung up on her. Getting the message the first time January blocks all Giles calls, tells her doorman to refuse him entry and excises him from her life. January has to come to terms with loving a man who didn't love her back and prepare to have a baby alone. Throw in two overprotective motorcycle club member brothers and her Tough Lady friends and laughs ensue.
For Giles life is the same boring thing over and over. He spent his life becoming the best at what he does but where did it get him? His daughter isn't speaking to him, his only happiness was January and she has blocked him from her life. He doesn't get it. It's not his fault he was in France for a conference and their call dropped out. How can he explain when he can't get close to January?
I thought the story and witty banter was hilarious for the first half of the book. Then it got sillier and sillier until I thought it was just ridiculous. By then I just wanted it to be over. I enjoy a good comedy but I felt like the author worked too hard to make it funny. The addition of a ghost and January moving into a house without walls or running water was too weird for my taste.
