Li Bai Chang has come from China to find the tea plants an Englishman has stolen from his family. Why is this such a issue for Li? It's his family's tea plant, and they sell high-end teas. They can't have their plants brought to another country because that would undermine the worth of their tea company. Kate Holloway happens to knock him over while out and about, and she helps him up with a gracious apology. He comes over to offer her a gift of thanks....a small sample of his family tea. (You know the English and their love for tea!) Next thing you know the man who took the tea plants has been murdered. Who do the police suspect....Li Chang. Now Kate and Daniel have to figure out who the real murderer is and where those tea plants could be hidden. Are they in the Kew Gardens or elsewhere?
Kate is a cook and many of the characters are "below stairs". Daniel works for someone, but Kate can't figure out who. She just knows Daniel helps the police in certain cases. They are a perfect team when it comes to sussing thing out. They make a good couple, too, though the stories are more about the mystery than bed romping romance.
