The h has been captured by an alien race that is looking for compatible species to breed. When it is determined that the h is incompatible, she is put up for a prize for the best fighter among their other captives. She is won by the H. Shortly after that, the H and all his group escape captivity and take her with them, back to his home planet.
This is a short novella (103 pages). The story is good, the sex is hot. The problem is the very bad grammar and lack of editing. This series is some of Dohner's very early work. She should have taken the time to edit it before publishing it. The series gets better as the books progress. The second book is 170 pages and the grammar and editing are better (but still need some work).
I'm a fan of Dohner's alpha/possessive heroes. Her stories are generally very good. I put up with her weak grammar and editing because of that. I don't generally do that, but her heroes are worth it!
