This is a Betty Neels book. The hero's girlfriend (or fiancee) told the hero's manservant (butler) that she would be firing him (the butler) when she and the hero get married. The hero says he definitely will not be firing the butler.
I'm not sure if the woman is actually the hero's girlfriend / fiancee or if she is just being presumptuous.
It is not Pineapple Girl.
I've been looking through my Betty Neels books but there are a lot. I'm hoping someone just knows it off the top of their head!
Thanks!
EDITED: Thanks to the Facebook Group "Uncrushable Jersey Dress", the book has been found. "Marrying Mary". The OW was not the H's fiancee or girlfriend just very presumptuous.

Could it be A Secret Infatuation? I've been skimming through it and it has a character who would be likely to say something like that but I can't find the scene.
