First off, this book is making a liar out of me. I said I'd never give a good rating to a book with cheating but here I am doing it. Wait, wait..... don't run away yet. Hear me out. The cheating is not between the H and h.
The Heroine's name is Jayne. She is married to Walfort. The Hero is Ainsley. Ainsley and Walfort are cousins as well as friends.
Three years ago, Ainsley and Walfort were in a carriage accident. Ainsley was thrown free and Walfort was crippled. Walfort is now a paraplegic - no function or feeling from the waist down. He has made no secret of the fact that he blames Ainsley for everything that happened, but they are still friends. They had been celebrating the fact that Jayne was pregnant, at a brothel. So right away, I don't like Walfort. Because of all the heartache and sorrow, Jayne loses the baby and now there is no chance of another.
The story essentially starts with Walfort coercing Ainsley and Jayne into spending a month together to try and conceive another baby. Then they will all lie, and say that it is in fact Walfort's baby. He claims to be doing this for Jayne, but mostly he just wants an heir. So, just to be clear, the husband is unable to make love to his wife. He essentially forces his wife to go and spend a month with the hero.
Of course Ainsley and Jayne fall in love during this month. Ainsley, in spite of his reputation, does not touch another woman from that point on. They are successful. Jayne is pregnant. And now they are both heartbroken.
The story has an HEA but I won't spoil it any further.
09/20/2017 - I intended to mention, this book has several errors in it. The funniest was the Sceptor of death, instead of the Spector of death. I imagine someone getting bonked on the head with a sceptor, instead of an ethereal spector hanging near them.
