Box Set: 3 stars total.
1) Gentle Warrior. Medieval.
Lady Elizabeth had been raised like a boy IE used bows and arrows, had a pet hawk. She wed too-serious
warrior/ baron Lord Geoffrey. He lectured her, verbally abused her, shook her, pulled her hair.
She thought Geoff too slow in capturing the murderer of her sire and sisters. They fell in love.
2) Honor's Splendour. Medieval.
Duncan, a warrior/ baron, was left outside in winter to freeze to death by Lady Madelyne's baddie half-brother.
She rescued him and warmed his toes, using the warmth of her body. The MCs had the same convo over
and over. She saved the life of his warrior brother, who then had a crush on her. She needed to learn the
distinction between aggressiveness v assertiveness (when speaking).
3) Lyon's Lady. Regency. I finished Ch 12, then DNF.
The MCs spoke at cross-purposes. After Lyon met beautiful Christiana he practically stalked her. How could she
breathe when he hovered too closely? He was an asshat former spy who thought he knew everything.
4) Similar elements in these stories.
Each hero was huge, as was his ego. And lectured his wife. These men were gruff & didn't smile. Lyon smiled
at times. The heroines weren't perfect, they: cried too often, wanted to know military strategy (why?),
contradicted orders given by spouse to his men. The 1st two stories had the heroines save a few warriors.
Madelyne feared horses, had no survival skills or sense of direction, had a thrown together map, yet made her
goal to reach her cous in Scotland- huh?
Medieval era men were bossy & pulled hair etc etc, but why the repetition?
5) IMO much better books by this author: The Bride, The Wedding, The Prize.
