Out just in time for Valentines day this series of short reads are focused around couples who meet on valentines day. There are 6 novellas in this collection by various authors and I picked two with the highest review ratings. Available on KU and I chose to sync and listen to them via audible.
1. The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren
I loved this short super sweet read, for a novella it was well written with enough of a storyline to feel like you had read a good book. Narrators were excellent. Spans over 12 years (?) and is mostly told via a set of emails. The hero accidently sends the heroine an email on Valentines day which was meant to go to his teacher and the correspondence continues every year on Valentines day until they eventually meet. I liked both characters, both very nice people. A clean read with a satisfying epilogue. A 4.5 for me and a great pick me up just when I needed it.
2. Worst Wingman Ever by Abby Jimenez
I didnt enjoy this one as much as book 1, it had sadder elements with the grandmother of heroine dying from cancer. That's not to say it was a depressing read as there were some lighter moments. This couple start communicating via letters left on her car after the hero accidently leaves a valentines card meant for his brothers girlfriend on the wrong car. I think this novella was just too short and ended abruptly not long after they meet and recognise each other. Maybe an epilogue could have helped to give a more satisfying ending, just didnt have the charm of the first. Narration was fine, again a clean read. A 3.5 for me.
