I asked about this a long time ago on Ammy but never got any recs. Are there any mail order bride HRs in which the intended groom turns out to be cruel or abusive, so the h is saved by a different man/H? Not every real mail order bride found herself with a great guy who took good care of her, but what would happen to her in a strange place with no where to go? That's what I'm looking for, is the intended groom is awful but a different H steps in and saves her.

Does it have to be mail order (which implies north american/western I think)? What about arranged marriages where the bride has never met the groom and the same thing happens?
Not that I have a particular book in mind, I'm just wondering how specific your request is.

For this request, I prefer mail order. I sort of got tired of Regency/Victorian/Highlander HR so I'm looking for something different. Plus, I've read several Regency style romances along this line, but never a mail order bride/western one.

Hi AGReads-----
A Gambler's Heart ( Love's a Gamble Bk #1) by Kay P. Dawson. 193 pages.
A mail order bride arrived out West in response to (unknown) creepy man, her intended. The hero wins at cards with creepy man, who agrees the heroine can temporarily stay w/ hero & his sister under one condition. Hero or heroine must reimburse creepy his transport costs for MO bride.
Harper's Bride by Alexis Harrington. Took place in the Yukon, 1898.
This might be of interest? Melissa's father beat her and she wore threadbare clothes. Father drank too much, owed the hero Dylan, owner of a trading post, $1200. Father offered Melissa to hero to clear his debt. Hero agreed under 2 conditions 1) Melissa must agree 2) father must never bother her again. BTW heroine had an infant daughter. Was a MOC. Sorry I'm tired, hope I recalled correctly.
