Hour of the Lion - Wild Hunt Legacy Book 1 - by Cherise Sinclair

Genre - erotic shifter, suspense, M/F/M Menage, light BDSM (yeah, hits them all, doesn't it!)
I'm a fan of Cherise Sinclair, and I autobuy everything she writes. So far, I have never been disappointed. Someone posted somewhere that book 4 of this series is going to be released tomorrow. I figured that was a good excuse to reread books 1-3. It was a great decision. It is definitely washing away the taste of that last Maya Banks book I read (Blech!).
The h, Vic, was a marine and is currently working as a special op for the CIA. She tries to rescue an old woman who is being attacked and ends up being kidnapped herself. She witnesses a teen boy shift to a cougar and back again. He's been tortured and he attacks her. She manages to rescue him anyway but he dies in her arms. His last words are that he is gifting her. He exacts a promise for her to find his grandfather and let him know what happened.
So Vic ends up in a small town. H1 is the tavern owner and H2 is the sheriff. They are both mountain lion shifters. H1 is the cosantir - an alpha but more. H2 is the cahir - protector and they are brothers - littermates. They are both attracted to Vic but don't understand why since shifters are not attracted to humans.
This author creates a world that really appeals to me. Humans have no knowledge of shifters. To reveal anything is a death sentence. Power is granted to the cosantir by the god Herne, as is the role of cahir. The shifters are descended from the fae. The author weaves some of that folklore into her stories. Although there is some violence (because of the bad guys) these are generally well behaved shifters. The men are OTT alpha and protective but never alphaholes.
The cosantir is dominant, in and out of bed. So there is lots of d/s to their relationship. There is one spanking scene (erotic). The two H's share the h, including the inevitable both at once scene. This author writes very well. Nothing feels awkward or out of place. The story is intricate and interesting. Lot's of plot to hold up the erotic nature (which doesn't even start until 50%). I've already started book 2
