Alien Captured (Zyrgin Warriors Book 5) by Marie Dry
4 stars
No triggers
No Cliffy
3rd person POV with POV's from H and h
H - A very sweet, huge, alien-looking H who's good to the h. He's gentle with her and also a beta.
h - A traumatized, abused woman who still has some spunk.(She can be annoying at times.)
Sex - No sex until the end of the book and only partially open door. It's not real steamy.
****************only minor spoilers from the beginning of the book******************
The story begins when our H was "captured" by the h. The h needs to sell the H to the resistance so she can hire someone to find her baby who was stolen from her. She had painstakingly dug a pit (that already existed) deeper, added branches to injure the alien and some cheese to entice him, lol. Unknown to her, the H knew about her plan to capture him and felt honored that she wanted to do so. (He didn't know she wanted to sell him to the resistance at first.) At night, he secretly helped her dig the pit deeper. He was anxious for her to capture him so they could get busy with more fun (intimate) stuff. When he "fell" into the pit, he had to cut a hole in his uniform and stick a twig in his shoulder. He did this so she would feel less threatened by him and desire to take care of his wound. It was kind of funny to read about. I did lol a time or two.
Brief excerpt of the H regarding this:
"Azagor wiggled the twig in his shoulder, trying to alert her to her duties. Instead of harboring fantasies of contacting the resistance, she should want to tend to his wound Sponge down his body and be so impressed with his superior warrior's physique that she would want to be his breeder."
A few pages later...
"His communicator beeped again and he swore. Everyone knew he was getting captured by his breeder today."
A few paragraphs later....
" "How did she capture you?"
"She dug a hole and put sharpened wooden sticks in the bottom." Nothing would induce him to admit that she tried to use cheese to entice him."
A bit later....
"Humans get fevers from their wounds. If I am wounded, I could have a fever and she'd want to sponge me down." ........."All over my naked body." "
I just about busted a gut reading that I lol'd so hard. I did like this H even though he was a beta H. I loved how sweet he was to the h. The h however, I didn't care for at times. As the story progressed, I found myself getting annoyed with her. I didn't like some of the things she called the H. She was rude, racist (or alienist, lol) and just plain mean. This was due to abuse and brainwashing from the religious cult she'd lived in for most of her life. I did feel sorry for what she'd suffered but in those moments when she was calling the H names, I didn't like her. It was always jarring to me and seemed to drag on for far too long.
Overall though, I did like this story. It was unique, well written, funny at times and only had a few, very minor editing issues. I do recommend this if you enjoy reading alien romance stories and are ok with a beta H and no real steam.
