This is a Harlequin. The h is a jewelry designer. Seems like the h goes to the H with her designs or something. The H's assistant takes the h's designs into another room and she makes a copy of them. Then the assistant tries to pass the h's designs off as her own. The assistant used to be a good designer but then her mother got sick and her work started to slip.
The H accuses the h of stealing his company's designs. The h doesn't have any contact with her father because her stepmother gets hysterical. The H doesn't believe the h is the daughter of her father. Her father is a famous designer or something??
The H forces the h to go with him to a party at her own father's house. When the h's stepmother sees the h, the stepmother freaks out.
The H intends to sue the h over the designs but the h isn't worried. She made a necklace for her sister (maybe) and it is either enough like the designs the H accused her of stealing or else her sister's necklace has the h's mark on it.
) I so hope someone knows which book it is.
My library has it in their archives. Should be at my local branch tomorrow afternoon. I'll have to get my Monday to-do list checked off quickly, so I can clear time to read. (Oh who am I kidding, we all know I'll make a run to pick it up as soon as it gets sorted and start reading as soon as I get home....probably should just stick something in the crockpot in the morning or everyone will be fending for themselves come supper!)
