I'm almost through Deep Waters - JAK - and I am enjoying it. A couple of people have recently mentioned JAK's tendency have H's that are weird woo-woo men and to harp about eating vegetarian. It had not really impinged on my consciousness. But now I'm looking for it and, of course, Deep Waters would be one of those books.
The H follows some ancient, mystical philosophy called the "Way of the Water". He has super mojo fighting skills and keeps spouting weird water related sound bites. He's also a vegetarian, as is the h. So we get to read about lots of vegetarian cooking. Yippee. Thanks for pointing that out guys, now it's bugging me too!
Sorry, SRJ, I think I'm the one that brought up the vegetarian part; I commented that in Untouchable they actually ate salmon! Hadn't seen such a thing in years in her books, but I admit, it never bothered me at all; just thought at one point, don't have to worry about it; not like I'll ever be invited to dinner at JAK's place!!! Now, the woo-woo guys; shoot, it's like reading about the guys in her Amanda Quick books; Vanza, or Arcane or who knows what. I still like the guys anyway! Yum!
I'm reading The Marshal's Wyoming Bride by Tatiana March. I read very little Western HR, but I'm quite enjoying this one. To be honest, there is a lot more depth to the story and the characters than I typically expect from a Harlequin Historical.
I finished reading Adrienne Basso's A Little Bit Sinful and liked it a lot. I have recently discovered Basso and am adding a few of her books to my tbr pile. The hero, Sebastian, is obsessed with getting revenge and tries various means to accomplish that. He can't give it up, even when he comes to feel badly about it. You want to shake him and say, "Don't do it! You'll be sorry!" But he already knows that. The heroine, Eleanor, is a smart, innocent, and plain (she thinks) lady who is surprised when Sebastian starts paying attention to her. Some humor, lots of emotion, and pretty hot.

I'm glad you liked it. It's one of my favorite AB books. Eleanor and Sebastian are very likable characters. I felt so bad for Eleanor. And I felt bad for Sebastian too. You can truly understand why he's doing what he's doing. Most H's that are out for revenge don't really feel any remorse for what they have done to the h. He does and you're right in saying that you wanted to shake Sebastian. But it turned all good at the end.
Had to laugh; was reading the description for A Little Bit Sinful & it struck me; Eleanor (the "plain" one) and Bianca (the beautiful one). and the names reflect it; I think I'd enjoy seeing one that has Bianca the "plain one & Eleanor the beautiful one! Just struck me as the names are so typical of the description. But the book description does sound interesting & I'm having trouble sticking with a book this weekend, I've started 3 different ones, including 2 rereads & can't seem to stick with them. Maybe this one...but I have to buy it first. Hmmm...

Last night I finished A MacKenzie Family Christmas. It wasn't really a story so much as a collection of vignettes. Some of then brought you back into the lives of MacKenzie couples and others introduced upcoming characters. It was OK. The parts with the couples were the best.
I just started The Seduction of Elliot McBride. So far I'm really enjoying it. A scarred and wounded H marries the woman he's wanted since they were teenagers because she gets jilted at the alter. Yup, check, check and check!
I am reading Carola Dunn's Lord Iverbrook's Heir which is a lighthearted, amusing story. It's not a typical Regency as it takes place in the country. Iverbrook has returned from a long stay in Jamaica and decided he needs to take over the raising of his deceased brother's son, his heir. This five-year old has an aunt as his guardian, Salena, our young, pretty heroine who will have something to say about that. The first half of the book moves along nicely, but the second half is more complicated with an ex-mistress and a baron with no money trying to muddy the romantic waters of the H and h. It's entertaining and humorous.

Jumping back in...I finished up the Lost and Found Series. I enjoyed them all! Books 1, 2, and 3 were my favorites. I'm currently reading Kansas City Secrets by Julie Miller. It seems like we have several Julie Miller fans here. Any must-read favorites? The only other book I've read by her is Beauty and the Badge. There are quite a few of her books available on Open Library, which is where I'm reading Kansas City Secrets, although they seem to be a lot of older books.

I've read all of Julie Miller's Taylor Clan and Precinct books, plus most of her other titles. My favorites are In the Blink of an Eye, The Rookie, Baby Jane Doe, Protecting Plain Jane, Takedown, Nanny 911, Task Force Bride, KCPD Protector, Kansas City Cowboy, and APB: Baby. Of her non-KCPD books, Riding the Storm, and Beast in the Tower are my favorites.

I've moved on to The Untamed MacKenzie (MacKenzies 5.5), by Jennifer Ashley. This is the one with Lloyd Fellows as the H. He is the half brother that they discovered in TMOLIM. The h is Isabella's younger sister, Louisa. I'm about 20% in and so far quite good.
