I did end up reading another 5 star book before the end of the month (Comanche Moon - Catherine Anderson - side note: I've enjoyed all three books that I've read by Catherine Anderson, and one was a Harlequin Intrigue. Why do I not read more of her books?), but Murder of Crows - Anne Bishop still won the day. The world building, the characters, the story line; they were all stellar.
Woke up this morning with a terrific urge to lie in bed all day and read. - Raymond Carver
I've just indulged in a reread of the five book series as well as Lake Silence. These books are amongst my current favorites, and I'm looking forward to Anne Bishop's new book in March.
But two were outstanding and in the running for best of the month: If You Believed in Love by Staci Stallings, which is a contemporary with two wounded people finding their way to each other. I almost went with it, but it was edged out by On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin, a WWII historical that pushed all my particular buttons, and was in the end, my favorite read of the month, and a contender for book of the year.
You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.
Once again, I have read lots of enjoyable books this month. The easy pick for me in the historical mystery department is Deadly Engagement by Lucinda Brant. It has a bit of romance, but I really liked it as a well-written mystery. My favorite romance this month is a tough choice. I liked Edith Layton's A Love for All Seasons, probably the best-written romance I read this month. I also liked Lady Isabella's Ogre telling how the h unintentionally hurts the H and sets about making it right. I also liked Virginia Heath's The Discerning Gentleman's Guide because Heath is a favorite author of mine, and this book was great. My favorite pick is an unusual romance as the h in A Dangerous Deceit is dealing with hearing problems in dangerous situations with the help of a great H. It really lets you experience what Jane is going through and tells a road trip romance, too.
I just posted my favorite February book, Caroline Linden's My Once and Future Duke (The Wagers of Sin). I read many books this month, both contemporary and historical, but this one stuck out. A runner up is Jayne Fresina's Slowly Fell, which bonnieg kindly lent me. There was just something so special about the characters in My Once and Future Duke, though, and how they didn't understand each other at first, and poor Sophie had things in her life she thought they had to hide.

I read some pretty good books in February.
Illuminae - Aimie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff - this was so good, but the writing style is definitely not for everyone, and the romance is more in the background than the focus.
The Hum and the Shiver - Alex Bledsoe - another book with romance taking a back seat, but the writing itself is so good. Everything and everyone felt so real.
I added my fave book of the month. February was mostly rereads but I did read a few new ones. I wanted to pick a book that wasn't a reread. My rereads are always a favorite so I try to give a chance to a never before read book.

Where has March gone? I can't believe we're in April already! Right now it means that a new favorite has been picked for the month. I've updated my list.
I updated my favorite book list, but, as usual, it isn't easy to pick just one, or two. I really like the challenge of thinking about the books I read in a month--helps me remember them better.
