What's your opinion on multiple author series?

For me, it depends quite a bit on the authors, and whether the authors are matched similarly in writing skill. I think Kendra Elliott and Melinda Leigh pair well together, and they have written multiple series that I enjoyed. Harlequin often has multiple authors writing series that span one large family or generations over time. Some of those have been successful and some not. The ones I find myself drifting away from are when the skill levels bounce around between amateurish and seasoned pros. I don't mind the different styles of writing as long as characterizations are kept consistent.

I HATE them. I never buy or read when it is Multi Author

I have read some; Harlequin has done several series with the Texas Cattlemen's Assoc.; one based on a tornado hitting the small town (tons of millionaires in Texas is all I can figure, considering how many of them are in this one small town!), and some of the books I liked, some I didn't care for, but I had to read them all because of an over-arching storyline. I've bought a couple of the different series, but not sure I'll do that again because I have to really work to finish the entire series.

One of my authors has just started one but I can't remember the author. I looked at the list as I'd bought the 1st book already (author!), but realized the rest were all by other authors & at this point; giving the series a pass. When I actually read the book, then I'll consider if I want to continue the storyline enough...plus how much are they charging for these other authors, who for the most part, I don't know. Some days, it may depend how weak I am at resistance! At this point, I'm doing pretty well at reminding myself of the Mountain Range of ebook TBR's and the other one of pbk TBR's...plus rereads...Shoot, I could quit buying books altogether & read for a long time...

I have some fond memories of Multi-Author series but it's not something I would want to commit to in my reading life now.

The 12-book Montana Mavericks was my first experience and I was fortunate to start the series about five years after it first came out, so was able to read the books back-to-back. Then the series spun off into Silhouette Special Editions publications. I read approximately the next dozen but it was too difficult to keep up with the sequence and my interest waned.

A Year of Loving Dangerously was another 12-book series that comes to mind. It was spread out over a year and was completed. I liked that one.

First Born Sons was only six books and I'm thinking they were SIMs instead of a separate imprint like the above series.

I don't recall which series it was but there was a glitch in continuity from one author to another when referencing a character's eye color mentioned in a previous book. Probably something that wouldn't have been noticed if there was a lag of reading time between the books. But it really irked me at the time.

SRJ, I did start that Immortal series but didn't keep up with it. Can't say it was the writing at this late date but I'm not generally a paranormal romance reader, so that could have been it. I did like the Jennifer Ashley more than the Robin Popp.

I don't consider Mother and Daughter or Husband and Wife writing teams as Multi-Author. For me they are writing as one voice and under one name and that's how I think of them.

I have read several multi-author series over the past year or so--the Love Inspired Suspense line has had several dealing with K-9s. Let's see if I can remember all the series' names: the Rookie K-9 Unit series, the first book of which is Protect and Serve, the Military K-9 Unit series, the first book of which is Mission to Protect; there's also the Classified K-9 Unit series, which has Guardian as the first book.

I really like reading about K-9s, and these authors work together well. I'm never bored by the stories, and each series has an over-arching mystery that means the whole series needs to be read to find the final answer. But each story has its own couple and each book is a complete story.

I really like her romantic suspense books!

I don't like them much. The only ones I still read are when Nora Roberts does a JD Robb one with a couple of others. I started out reading all the stories but at this point, I skip the others and go straight for the In Death story as I don't find the others can match up to hers.
